The detonations happened behind the home of the late Alex Jvirblis, who died in August at the age of 82. Neighbors describe him as a quiet but pleasant individual, and recalled few interactions. Curtis Technology offers metal forming, cutting and finishing operations, which requires the use of chemicals. A woman named Daksha Dave is listed as its business contact online, and as treasurer with the Environmental Protection Agency. His will gives the state to the full authority to sell, lease, or hold all of his assets. That's where the fight starts. In October, Robert Hockenbrought and Amber Shuey, Jvirblis’ nephew and niece, filed a legal challenge to the Jvirblis Trust. A woman who identified herself as Dave declined comment Tuesday at the Curtis Technology headquarters. Her attorneys did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Hockenbrought is also the one who alerted authorities to the illegally stored chemicals, according to federal search warrants. Then, upon Jvirblis’s death, that employee informed Dave and the alternate executor — also at Curtis Technology — of the chemicals stored at the homes. The warrant says the employee was then told not to worry about it and that he was no longer allowed to go those locations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The California Independent System Operator again Sunday reminded consumers throughout the state conserve energy, warning of more possible rotating outages.SDG&E said early in the day Sunday that customers should be prepared for possible outages to be called from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.The news comes after a flex alert was issued statewide from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily through Monday, September 7.“Energy conservation is essential in helping reduce the possibility of widespread rotating outages and the number of people impacted. Understandably, it may be difficult to reduce energy use during the high temperatures and the ongoing pandemic. However, everyone is urged to do their part to cut back on energy use, if health and safety permits, during this critical time,” SDG&E wrote.Just before 6:30 p.m., CAISO issued a Stage 2 emergency and warned that consumers should conserve power until 9 p.m. to avoid rolling outages. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The beloved founder of the popular Roberto's Taco Shop chain which began in San Diego died last week, according to the company.Dolores Robledo, 90, died on July 14, the company said in a release. Robledo opened the first Roberto's Taco Shop — and San Diego's first taco shop — with her husband, Roberto, in 1964, according to the company. Prior to that, the couple started their food career providing tortillas to stores and restaurants from their San Ysidro tortilla factory."Since then, Sra. Dolores had been sharing her love for family and authenticity through each meal served," the company said in a release. "She has left the legacy of her love and perseverance. The way she touched lives will remain ongoing. Dolores Robledo will be deeply missed. Please keep her family in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time."Robledo was the mother to 13 children and had 39 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. In 1990, Roberto moved to Las Vegas and soon after decided to open his first taco shop in Las Vegas. With the help of her family, Roberto's expanded to 60 locations across California and Nevada.The Roberto's chain is believed to have started the variety of other eateries with the "berto's" suffix in San Diego. It's long-rumored that the famed California Burrito was created at one of these "berto's" shops, but which shop can claim that title continues to be debated.On Instagram, the company continued: "Sra. Dolores Robledo, founder of Roberto's Taco Shop, loved cooking good Mexican food for her family and friends. She and her family expressed that passion by opening their first Roberto's Taco Shop in San Diego in 1964. She will be missed but her legacy of cooking fine Mexican dishes will continue for generations to come."Visitation services for Robledo will be held at 4 p.m. on July 29 at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Cabrillo National Monument will extend its opening hours until sunset on Fridays through Sundays in August.The national monument is currently in a phased re-opening. All outdoor areas, trails, and restrooms are open, but indoor areas like exhibits and the lighthouse are closed due to coronavirus restrictions.Normal operating hours for the area are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the tidepools closing at 4:30 p.m. The extended hours will give visitors a chance to take in views of the Pacific Ocean and San Diego during sunset. The monument's tidepool area will also be open until 30 minutes before sunset.Visitors can also get Junior Ranger books and badges, maps, and visitor information at an outdoor station near the visitor center.Officials encourage guests to continue wearing face coverings and physical distance from anyone no apart of their household while visiting.Annual park passes can still be purchased online here.
