Disinformation is a problem the country has been dealing with since the past election, but trolls are now getting more specific and targeting communities of color, specifically Black communities.“Bad actors use real cultural issues and conversations happening in Black communities and other communities of African descent and start injecting disinformation and false ideals,” said Jessica Ann Mitchell Aiwuyor, founder of the National Black Cultural Information Trust.A lot of the issues brought up by “bad actors” include talks of reparations and other conversations about slavery.These are real issues that need attention, but trolls will include false information. This ends up causing friction within Black communities and dissuades people from voting.The National Black Cultural Information Trust has made it a goal to counteract this type of disinformation.“So, what we are doing is putting out public service announcements, we are holding teach-ins, we are hosting webinars, we're doing interviews with scholars and activists so they can answer these questions directly,” said Aiwuyor.The group will also use tools to show if accounts have troll-like behavior.It also plans on building coalitions with Black immigrants and Latinos. 1246

DURANGO, Colo. – The young bear that was burned in the East Canyon Fire in June was released back into the wild this week not far from where it was found, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said.The 2-year-old bear had been recovering at CPW’s Frisco Creek rehab facility in Del Norte from burns he suffered during the fire. CPW said the bear weighed only 43 pounds when he was first captured in the fire.But after undergoing salve treatment on his paws, and having his bandages changed 16 times over the course of a month, he recovered and was moved from a pen with concrete floors to one with trees and hiding spaces mid-July, where he spent the past monthMichael Sirochman, the veterinary technician and manager at Frisco Creek, said the bear was 110 pounds and had seen its paws toughen up before he was released Monday.“He’s now about the weight he should be for a two-year-old bear and is in good shape for going into the fall,” Sirochman said.CPW officers originally found the bear on June 16 walking near a pond on the east side of the East Canyon Fire, which burned in June outside of Durango. Officials said the bear was released not far from that location on Monday.CPW said the bear originally hesitated for a moment as it looked at and smelled its new surroundings but then jumped from a CPW truck and ran into the forest. During the coronavirus pandemic, airlines scaled back on serving in-flight food and drink service to avoid the virus's spread by contact.Well, United Airlines seems to be wading back into the water with news of it slowly bring back food and alcohol.According to USA Today, the airliner will begin test running the sale of food, beer, and wine to economy passengers on select flights from its hub in Denver, Colorado, starting Nov. 17.The test run would also include travelers on flights from Denver to eight destinations: Boston; Chicago; Honolulu; Houston; Los Angeles; Newark, New Jersey; San Francisco; and Washington, D.C., USA Today reported.On their "safety updates to inflight dining" page, United stated that passengers in economy traveling domestically on flights over 2 hours and 20 minutes would receive a complimentary snack bag that'll include two snacks, a small bottle of water, and a sanitizer wipe.If traveling in first-class from Boston, Chicago O'Hare, Cleveland, Denver, Houston Intercontinental, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, and Honolulu to San Francisco and Los Angeles, you can select either a cold sandwich or a snack box.Snacks for flights under 2 hours and 20 minutes would not receive snacks in economy, the airliner said, but you can bring your snacks on board.If traveling domestically in first class, and the flight is between 1 hour and 2 hours and 20 minutes, passengers would receive a complimentary snack bag that'll include two snacks, a small bottle of water, and a sanitizer wipe.For drinks, United said passengers would receive complimentary soft drinks, coffee, and tea. EL CAJON, Calif. - The grieving mother of an accused thief filed a lawsuit Thursday against the homeowner who shot and killed her son.The civil suit identifies the homeowner as Michael Poe, and it stems from an incident in the early morning hours of March 11. Police say the homeowner woke up to the sound of glass breaking. He went outside and found someone breaking into his work truck. His mother Monika Anderson said her son had a drug problem but was doing his best to stay sober.“He was on Suboxone, a drug to stay sober, and someone had stolen his Suboxone,” Anderson said. “Although it's really hard for me to imagine my son at  31 years of age would just start stealing, but I think he was just desperate for drugs and in a lot of pain. I don’t think he deserved to die over that.”Police are investigating the incident and no criminal charges have been filed. Anderson’s attorney, Dan Gilleon, said that investigation should not affect their civil lawsuit.“The bottom line is Joe shouldn't have died and at a minimum it's because this guy didn’t act reasonably,” Gilleon said. “This is not the Wild West.
