DETROIT, Mich. – Ford is recalling over 240,000 SUVs and cars worldwide because a suspension part can fracture and increase the risk of a crash. The recall covers the Ford Flex, Taurus police car, Taurus SHO and Lincoln MKT from the 2013 through 2018 model years. Most of the recalled vehicles are in North America. Ford says if the suspension moves a lot on the vehicles, the rear toe links can fracture. Toe links help keep the rear suspension stable and the tires on the pavement. The company says it's not aware of any crashes or injuries caused by the problem in this batch of recalled vehicles. Dealers will replace toe links on both sides with new ones that are stronger. Owners will be notified starting March 2. 732
Dr. Anthony Fauci said in an interview on Wednesday that he believes that wearing a mask during the coronavirus pandemic is a sign of respect to others.Fauci, the Director of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases, made the comments during an interview with CNN on Wednesday morning."I mean it's sort of respect for another person and have that other person respect you. You wear a mask, they wear a mask, you protect each other," Fauci said.He added that while masks aren't 100% effective, he believes it's the "kind of thing you should be doing" during the pandemic."I do it when I'm in the public for the reasons that A, I want to protect myself, and protect others, and also because I want to make it be a symbol for people to see that that's the kind of thing you should be doing," he said. The CDC already recommends that all Americans wear a mask when in situations while in large groups where social distancing could be difficult.Fauci's comments come as the issues of masks have become a divisive political issue as the virus continues to spread. Though President Donald Trump briefly wore a mask while touring a Ford plant in Michigan last week, he has chosen not to wear them during visits to other plants. Earlier this week, Trump retweeted a political pundit that implied Trump chooses not to wear a mask because of looks. On Tuesday, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam ordered that all Virginians wear a mask while indoors in public buildings — an order that most states have chosen not to implement. 1540
Daryl Dragon, one half of popular '70s duo The Captain & Tennille, died Wednesday, according to his publicist Harlan Boll.Dragon, whose ever-present captain's hat left no doubt about which half of the duo he was, died of renal failure in Prescott, Arizona, Boll said."He was a brilliant musician with many friends who loved him greatly," Toni Tennille said in a statement. Establishment-minded Democrats are warning primary voters that Bernie Sanders would struggle to defeat President Donald Trump and would hurt the party's chances in premier House, Senate and governors' races. The warnings come as Sanders shows new signs of strength in the first two states on the presidential primary calendar, backed by a dominant fundraising performance. The Vermont senator has largely escaped close scrutiny over the last year as his rivals doubted the quirky 78-year-old's ability to win the nomination. But less than a month before Iowa's kickoff caucuses, the doubters are being forced to take Sanders seriously. Sanders' camp says he has effected meaningful change in and out of Washington. 726
Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party Troy Price has resigned from his post, nine days after results from the Iowa Caucuses were not available for nearly 24 hours. Price’s resignation is effective immediately following the election of an interim chair this Saturday, February 15, at a meeting of the State Central Committee, the Iowa Democratic Party said in a statement. Price oversaw the implementation of a smartphone application designed to make it easier for local caucus officials to submit results. Instead, the smartphone application malfunctioned, forcing caucus officials to phone in their results. But there were reports that 646
