The banana phone is back.A startup that licenses the Nokia phone brand has unveiled a new version of the 8110, a curved mobile phone that was first released in 1996 and featured in "The Matrix."The phone, which is offered in banana yellow and black, will sell for €79 (). It comes loaded with a new version of the game Snake, Finnish startup HMD said in a statement."This is a return to the glory years of Nokia," said Ian Fogg, senior analyst at IHS Markit. "But it also includes all the new technology."The 8110 comes with 4G, and a handful of apps including Google Maps, Facebook and Twitter. But it doesn't have a flashy operating system and users won't be able to download other popular apps.Fogg said that basic -- or "feature" -- phones are appealing because they are reliable, and can run for a long time on a single charge. The 8110 goes 25 days in standby mode, for example.Nokia used to be the world's largest maker of mobile phones, but it struggled to adapt to the era of smartphones and compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.Microsoft purchased the company's handset business in 2013, but later unwound the deal. Nokia now focuses on making technology for telecommunications networks.HMD, which has licensed the Nokia brand since 2016, sold over 70 million handsets in 2017, according to IHS. That puts its sales, on an annualized basis, in the same league as Sony and Lenovo."HMD's strategy clearly aims to return Nokia to be a mobile market leader, even if it's too early for HMD to realistically target displacing Samsung or Apple," Fogg said.Nokia marketed the original 8110 as "the first of its kind in terms of its ergonomics." Its battery lasted up to six days, and it was able to store 16 ring tones and up to 324 names and numbers."It feels good in the hand and fits into any pocket. The revolutionary curved design fits the natural shape of your face," the company said in a press release at the time.  1948

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A 30-year-old man was forced to leave his parents¡¯ home after they sued him for refusing to leave, according to KABC.The man, Michael Rotondo, was ordered to leave by a judge Tuesday. Rotondo¡¯s parents say he would leave, despite several notices. The man argued that he wasn¡¯t given enough time to leave, saying he should have been given at least six months.Rotondo¡¯s parents claim they started giving him notices in February, even offering to give him more than ,000 to help him find a place.Rotondo said he took the money, but it wasn¡¯t enough to find another place to live. Court filings show that Rotondo doesn¡¯t contribute to the family¡¯s expenses and doesn¡¯t help out with chores. The man says he runs a ¡°website business¡± and was forced to move home eight years ago after losing a job. 818

The Boston Red Sox advanced to the World Series, defeating the Houston Astros 4-1 Thursday in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series at Minute Maid Park in Houston.David Price, whose postseason struggles have long been a talking point, delivered a solid performance for the Red Sox. The veteran left-hander went six shutout innings, striking out nine Astros.J.D. Martinez finished 2-for-3, and his solo home run got Boston on the board in the third inning. Rafael Devers made it a 4-0 lead in the sixth with a three-run homer. The Price playoff narrative has been beaten into the ground so much that even casual baseball fans are probably aware of his October history. The five-time All-Star was a different pitcher Thursday night, and his changeup was a big reason. It's one thing for Price to pitch spectacularly on a given night; it's another for that success to come in part because of a change in approach. That's something tangible he can carry into his first start in the 2018 World Series.Expecting the veteran left-hander to be this effective in the Fall Classic might be unrealistic, but a better version of Price than his typical postseason self would make a big difference for the Red Sox in the next round.Nathan Eovaldi has never pitched in a World Series, and Rick Porcello's playoff starts with Boston have been a mixed bag. Most importantly, Chris Sale has a stomach illness that kept him out of starting Game 5.If the Red Sox can count on Price, they'll have one fewer question mark surrounding their starting rotation.Astros Primed to Contend Again in 2019Sometimes, baseball isn't fair.As great as the Astros played this year, history wasn't on their side. MLB will now go 18 years without a repeat World Series champion. The good news for Houston is that it has a good chance to return to the playoffs and make another title challenge in 2019.The Astros could see some experienced veterans depart in free agency. Marwin Gonzalez, Charlie Morton, Evan Gattis, Tony Sipp and Dallas Keuchel are all hitting the open market in the offseason. The Justin Verlander trade¡ªthe Astros absorbed  million from his contract¡ªshowed ownership is willing to make the financial commitment necessary to put together a championship-caliber roster. Houston may wind up losing one or more of its free agents, but it shouldn't be a mass exodus. The Astros' returning stars aren't due to decline in 2019, either. Jose Altuve and George Springer are the elder statesmen yet are only 28 and 29, respectively. Alex Bregman, who enjoyed a breakout in 2018, will turn 25 in March. Carlos Correa turned 24 last month.Regarding the rotation, Gerrit Cole averaged a career-high 12.4 strikeouts per nine innings and saw his FIP fall from 4.08 in 2017 to 2.70, per Baseball Reference. A free agent in 2020, Cole could well repeat that success next season. And the 35-year-old Verlander continues to defy the aging curve. Maybe he'll fall off in 2019, but it feels like that has been a possibility for the last three or four years.Luck is a factor in determining a team's fate. But strictly from a roster point of view, the pieces are there for the Astros to play in October next season.Red Sox Offense Looks Unstoppable Heading into World SeriesThe Astros surrendered eight combined runs in their first four playoff wins. The Red Sox scored 27 total runs as they reeled off four straight victories to clinch the AL pennant. This is the same Boston offense that ranked first in on-base percentage (.339), slugging percentage (.453) and weighted on-base average (.340).The Red Sox's collective strength is shining. When Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi combine to go 0-for-10, Ian Kinsler and Mitch Moreland and deliver two hits apiece. Both Kinsler and Moreland scored on Devers' homer.Likewise, one mistake thrown to Martinez is all it takes to see the ball sail over the fence. Verlander should've had a strikeout with a slider down and away. Instead, he had to throw another pitch and left a hang

TEMPE, Ariz. ¡ª It's a huge breakthrough for the highly contagious and deadly norovirus as researchers at the Arizona State University¡¯s Biodesign Institute have come up with a vaccine made from plants. The norovirus is known as the perfect human pathogen. It can have you feeling awful for days, but researchers at ASU say a form of the tobacco plant may be the key to a vaccine. Also known as the cruise ship illness, norovirus hits nearly 20 million Americans every year. According to Andy Diamos, a post-doctoral researcher at ASU, the average person has the stomach bug five times in their life.¡°Norovirus is a horrible bug to get,¡± said Diamos. ¡°It causes vomiting, diarrhea, all sorts of nasty stuff.¡±There is no vaccine for the highly contagious bug because it's notoriously difficult to produce in a lab, until now, thanks to Diamos and Hugh Mason with the Biodesign Center.¡°Genetic engineering has allowed us to design systems like plants to produce useful things like vaccines,¡± said Diamos.By using a form of the tobacco plant, researchers discovered that a harmless bacteria would help grow a norovirus vaccine when the proper genes are transferred to the leaves.¡°You can basically put in whatever genes you want and transfer those to the plant, so that's how we get the plant to make the vaccine,¡± said Diamos.According to Diamos, real viruses are surrounded by a shell that protects its genes. The vaccine that grows inside the tobacco plant is essentially that shell without the harmful insides.¡°If you give that to someone as a vaccine, it looks just like the real virus, but there is nothing on the inside,¡± said Diamos. ¡°It can't cause disease; it can't actually infect you.¡±That's what makes these plant-based vaccines safe and effective.¡°One of the main reasons why we're focusing on plants is because they're so cheap to work with. These vaccines will hopefully be much cheaper to produce than traditional methods,¡± said Diamos. Many discoveries from ASU researchers hit the market, this one could too, but it needs further study and would eventually need to be picked up by a pharmaceutical company which could take years. 2154

Stormy Daniels was "truthful about having unprotected vaginal intercourse with Donald Trump in July 2006," according to a polygraph test report from 2011.The report states that the "probability of deception was measured to be less than 1%." It was given to CNN by Michael Avenatti, Daniels' attorney and contains three pertinent questions: "Around July 2006, did you have vaginal intercourse with Donald Trump?," "Around July 2006, did you have unprotected sex with Donald Trump?" and "Did Trump say you would get on 'The Apprentice?'"Daniels replied yes to all three questions. The first two were analyzed to be truthful, the third question was "inconclusive" according to the polygraph examiner Ronald Slay.Polygraphs are generally inadmissible in court. The polygraph was performed at the request of Bauer Publishing, which owns Life&Style and InTouch magazines, according to the reporter who interviewed Daniels in 2011. Reporter Jordi Lippe-McGraw initially interviewed Daniels for Life & Style magazine. The interview was not published at the time, but Bauer Publishing released it in InTouch magazine earlier this year.Lippe-McGraw told CNN on Tuesday that Daniels passed the test in a broader sense. "Based off of the interview, we had her take the polygraph test to confirm the details of what she was telling us. There wasn't much in the way of physical evidence, per se," Lippe-McGraw said, adding that the big-picture question they wanted to confirm was that the affair happened, and that Daniels passed. Lippe-McGraw said that Daniels told her she had unprotected sex with Trump, because Daniels is allergic to latex and didn't have condoms at the time.Earlier Tuesday, Avenatti tweeted out a photograph of Daniels being administered the test. The Wall Street Journal first released the details of the polygraph questions and answers. 1871
