(KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's bomb/arson detectives were called to investigate a house fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon.Firefighters and deputies were called to the 1600 block of Via Elisa just before 3 p.m. Wednesday after the fire broke out at the home.Strong winds threatened nearby structures, forcing deputies to evacuate the homes, the SDSO said.Based on the initial investigation, Sheriff's bomb/arson detectives were called to the scene.The cause of the fire has not been determined, but the investigation was ongoing late Wednesday. 572

(KGTV) — El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells said he plans to call for a special City Council meeting on Friday to discuss instructing local police officers not to enforce coronavirus-related regulations."The people of El Cajon are suffering and it is highly unfair and nonsensical that big box stores, grocery stores, club stores and now even schools are open while nail salons, restaurants, churches, and other businesses and organizations are shuttered," Wells wrote on Facebook. "My people are suffering from not only financial ruin, but many are enduring severe depression, anxiety, isolation, and many other emotional, spiritual and sociological deprivations as a result of this stunning governmental overreach."Wells wrote that he will propose that the El Cajon Police Department stop enforcing mask, non-essential business, and social distancing laws.Speaking with ABC 10News, Wells said that he understands that the county and state may continue to hand out fines or criminal charges on businesses despite the stance. EARLESVILLE, Md. — Deputy State Fire Marshals are investigating an incident that left a Maryland student burned on a school bus on Tuesday afternoon.Fire crews and investigators were dispatched to Hack's Point General Store located in Earlesville, Maryland when they found the student with burns on his hands.An investigation showed that while the school bus was on route to drop off students from Bohemia Manor High School, the students on the bus notified the driver that there was a cellphone on the floor smoking.They say the 18-year-old student picked up the cellphone from the ground and he burned his hands while attempting to throw it off the bus.The student was later transported to Union Hospital of Cecil County with non-life threatening injuries.Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the phone explosion. 872

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A man with dementia and schizophrenia has been missing from an El Cajon nursing facility for two weeks, and the family needs your help locating him. Sixty-six-year-old Agustin Cerda walked away from Avocado Post Acute Skilled Nursing Facility on March 4th and never returned. His family says he was allowed to leave the facility.Now they’ve posted flyers around the city in hopes that someone will recognize him and call police. They’ve also put his picture on Facebook and received over 200 shares. Cerda’s niece Aly Cerda said, “He may be sleeping on the streets, and we have a large homeless population so he can be anywhere. So it’s hard to say where to look next, but we’re going to keep our efforts in place to make sure he’s found safe.”Cerda had gone missing twice before but was found in Tijuana the next day at his brother’s house.
