SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego Police officer and another person were struck by a vehicle along a major Midway District roadway Thursday morning.The officer was responding to a vandalism call at about 4:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Midway Drive at Rosecrans Street, according to police.The officer was outside of his patrol vehicle and working to detain a suspect when both were struck by a passing SUV. Witnesses say the officer had the suspect pinned down when they were hit."The suspect ran from the officers. While taking the suspect into custody in the street, both were stuck by an oncoming vehicle," SDPD said via a Tweet.The officer is in serious but stable condition. The unidentified officer was spotted on a gurney and being lifted into an ambulance while giving the thumbs up sign. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A suspected DUI driver overturned his car while speeding in the East Village, sending a passenger flying from the vehicle and facing life-threatening injuries.A 23-year-old man was driving a 2004 Toyota Prius "at a high rate of speed" eastbound on Market St. just before midnight Friday, according to San Diego Police. As he turned left to continue northbound on 7th Ave., he struck the curb and his Toyota overturned.A 24-year-old man sitting in the passenger's seat was ejected from the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries, including a crushed pelvis and internal bleeding. They were in critical condition Saturday morning, according to police.The driver suffered a laceration to his forehead, police said.Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. 795
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A student suspected of posting social media threats to four San Diego County schools has been identified, San Diego Unified School District announced.The student, only identified as a seventh-grader who attends an SDUSD school, reportedly posted the threats on Facebook and Snapchat, SDUSD police said.Threats of a potential shooting against Madison High School and Creative Performing Media Arts Middle School were discovered Wednesday, followed by similar threats to San Diego High School and the School of Creative and Performing Arts made Thursday, the district said.Specifically, the threats said in part, “Biggest shooting in history on its way. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old in the Midway District last month.San Diego Police say 19-year-old Armando Alvarado, of San Diego, was arrested on Dec. 12 and charged with the murder of Eduardo Salguero. Police said Salguero had set up a meeting over Snapchat to purchase an item on Nov. 25 when the meet up turned into an armed robbery.When Salguero arrived, the two sellers entered his vehicle. One of the suspects pulled out a firearm and multiple gunshots were fired inside the vehicle. The suspects then fled.Officers arrived to find Salguero behind the wheel of a grey Acura that had collided with a retaining wall behind businesses in the 3600 block of Midway Drive.
