Ohio has been added to the Ohio Department of Health’s COVID-19 Travel Advisory map, meaning the state is recommending Ohioans avoid traveling to Ohio, and those entering Ohio after traveling from Ohio are advised to self-quarantine in Ohio for 14 days.Obviously, outside of The Matrix or a Christopher Nolan movie, this is physically impossible. To be clear, you are free to move about the state, but the ODH recommends staying home except for necessary trips. The ODH included this statement on this week's travel advisory: "This is the first week since April where Ohio’s positivity for COVID-19 has increased above 15%. The state has seen record levels of cases, deaths, and hospitalizations in the past week, and all Ohioans can help to limit the spread and impact of this virus. This includes recommendations to stay at home except for necessary trips for supplies, consistent mask-wearing when around others, and frequent hand washing. Together we can help stop the spread of COVID-19."Ohio was added to its own travel advisory map because, as ODH states, the 7-day rolling average positivity rate for COVID-19 tests in the state rose above 15% for the first time since April this week. Any state with a positivity rate above 15% is put on the map, and the ODH recommends against travel to those states with high positivity. The positivity rate is an indicator of how much COVID-19 there is in a community, ODH states, and comes from state-level aggregate data from The COVID Tracking Project. The travel advisory is updated each Wednesday, based on data from Tuesday. The 13 other states included in Wednesday’s travel advisory and their average positivity rates are:Idaho - 49.0%Iowa - 43.4%South Dakota - 41.1%Kansas - 40.0%Alabama - 33.0%Pennsylvania - 29.0%Arizona - 23.0%Mississippi - 22.0%Utah - 20.0%Missouri - 19.0%Nevada - 17.0%Montana - 15.0%Arkansas - 15.0%The advisory and self-quarantine recommendations are intended for both leisure and business travel and should be heeded by both Ohioans and out-of-state travelers, the ODH stated. It is also guidance and not a mandate. For more information on the state's travel advisory, and recommendations for self-quarantining in Ohio after traveling to Ohio from Ohio, click here. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie remains hospitalized, but called a New Jersey newspaper editor from his hospital bed Monday morning, reportedly sounding raspy but not coughing — and fiery as ever. The former governor has struggled with asthma all his life, and announced on Twitter Saturday that he would check himself in to Morristown Medical Center on the advice of his doctors.Christie was seen outdoors in the White House Rose Garden hugging people without a mask last week. He also came in close contact with President Donald Trump and his staff when helping to prepare him for last week's debate."No one was wearing masks in the room when we were prepping the president during that period of time," Christie told Good Morning America. "The group was about five or six people in total."Monday, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy wished his predecessor a speedy recovery."He and I have had private communications," said Murphy. "He is in our prayers and he knows that we're here for him."The state is currently working to contact trace 206 people who attended a Trump fundraiser at his private golf club in Bedminster last week. Trump and his staff were there just hours before the president announced that he'd tested positive for COVID-19.The New Jersey Attorney General is now investigating whether the fundraiser violated state rules on social distancing. Many in attendance did not wear masks. But the Republican National Committee has insisted that face masks were provided and the event was in compliance. At Murphy's afternoon press briefing, he said the president and his staff acted recklessly by coming to New Jersey, knowing they had come in contact with someone who tested positive.“The actions leading up to and during this event have put lives at risk,” Murphy said. Some of the event attendees flew in from other parts of the country and have now scattered."This never should have happened," said the governor. Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon gave a passionate plea Friday morning for residents to take the COVID-19 pandemic more seriously as cases rise."Ask yourself: Do you feel better today about what’s going on in this state, than you felt maybe in June or July, or August, when we were one of the lowest states for infection rate?" Gordon said. "We were one of three states that could have a state fair. We had a carnival going. Ask yourself: Do you think we could do that now without running a risk on everything? Our capacities are overwhelmed. It’s time that Wyoming woke up and got serious about what it’s doing," Gordon said at a news conference at the state capitol in Cheyenne.Gordon said the daily numbers for positive cases and hospitalizations spell trouble, and more restrictions will likely be announced next week.He said it’s time for people to quit being "knuckleheads," about the virus and for neighbors to help neighbors get through this.Wyoming currently has more than 3,000 probably COVID-19 cases and 127 deaths.Watch the full news conference below: This article was written by KTVQ Staff. 1127

A Florida judge has denied a request for a temporary injunction to block the Palm Beach County mask mandate.Attorneys for a group of Palm Beach County residents filed a lawsuit claiming that the county's emergency order requiring masks in public places to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus was unconstitutional.Judge John Kastrenakes issued his ruling Monday morning."The right to be 'free from governmental intrusion' does not automatically or completely shield an individual's conduct from regulation," Kastrenakes wrote in his 13-page order. "More to the point, constitutional rights and the ideals of limited government do not absolve a cititzen from the real-world consequences of their individual choices, or otherwise allow them to wholly shirk their social obligation to their fellow Americans or to society as a whole. This is particularly true when one's individual choices can result in drastic, costly and sometimes deadly consequences to others."Kastrenakes went on to say that there is no "constitutional or protected right to infect others."Commissioners voted unanimously last month to approve the mask mandate, despite objections from an impassioned group of residents who spoke against such an ordinance.County Administrator Verdenia Baker last week extended the order for an additional 30 days. It now remains in effect until at least Aug. 23.Mayor Dave Kerner said Friday that the county is in the process of mailing about 3 million masks to residents."As this community tries desperately to navigate the tumultuous seas presented by COVID-19, it is reasonable and logical that our elected officials are throwing the citizens of Palm Beach County a lifeline in an attempt to ameliorate the spread of this deadly, unbridled and widespread disease," Kastrenakes concluded. "Based on the evidence, this court will not second guess the manner in which a co-equal branch of government sought to discharge its sacred duty to protect the general public."A statement from the Florida Civil Rights Coalition, which filed the lawsuit on behalf of the plaintiffs, said Kastrenakes "unsurprisingly" denied the motion, "paving the way for continued government tyranny under the guise of disease prevention in Palm Beach County."Attorneys for the plaintiffs argued during a hearing last week that the mask mandate infringes upon their clients' constitutional rights. In their statement, attorneys claim the ruling "disregards fundamental rights like freedom of speech and the right to medical self-determination protected by the Florida Constitution."The Florida Civil Rights Coalition plans to appeal the ruling. Gov. Phil Murphy got an earful from two women over the weekend while he ate dinner with his family at a New Jersey restaurant, video of the encounter shows. The brief video shows the women happen upon the governor as he is eating at a table outside of a restaurant in Red Bank on Saturday night. The women launch into expletive-filled rants and, at one point, argue with Murphy’s son before the video ends.Warning: The video below contains language that some may find offensive New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy confronted while having dinner with his maskless family.**Language Warning**pic.twitter.com/6O3Jug0YmS — Breaking911 (@Breaking911) November 23, 2020 The governor addressed the video, which was posted on Twitter Sunday night, during a coronavirus briefing Monday afternoon.Murphy said nothing happened before the women approached the table and a third friend who was with them pulled the pair away after the video ended.“I have literally no idea who they were,” the governor added.Murphy said he and his wife have thick skin and he’s a "big boy” who can handle criticism, but added that his children should be left out of it.When asked what may have motivated the women to heckle him, Murphy connected the incident to the stress people are feeling because of the pandemic.“I started out with stress at the front-end of my remarks. There’s more stress in our state and our country than I think any of us have ever seen,” he said. “The stress levels are overwhelming, and they’re not unfounded. There’s too many people out of work … too much economic hardship.”Murphy also said no one was wearing masks at the table because everyone was actively eating when the women approached.
