SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Veterans Day will mark the last "fee-free" day of the year for visitors at Cabrillo National Monument.On Nov. 11, visitors will not be charged admission to visit the San Diego landmark as part of the National Park Service promotion — offered on several days throughout the year.Those who visit the monument at the tip of Point Loma will take in tremendous views of the San Diego skyline, Coronado, and the bay.RELATED: Bill pushes to add San Diego's Chicano Park to National Park SystemWhile there, living history re-enactors will walk visitors back in time to the Age of Exploration. The glimpse shows how explorers traveled and the tools of their trade.Films are also shown covering Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the Point Loma lighthouse, and the ecosystem of the area. Inside the lighthouse, visitors can climb its narrow staircase to peek out from the top, learn about lighthouse lights, and how lighthouse keepers lived. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Traffic was backed up throughout the day Monday in Clairemont after a crash involving several vehicles. The crash happened just before 1 p.m. on Balboa Avenue near Albertine Avenue. According to San Diego Police, a 59-year-old man driving west on Balboa Avenue hit a raised median and crossed into the eastbound lanes of traffic. Police say he then hit a Jeep Patriot, causing it to slam into a Honda Civic and a Jeep Cherokee. Police say the driver of the Jeep Patriot sustained a fractured femur and was taken to the hospital. Her passenger also complained of pain. No one else was injured. The 59-year-old driver of the Nissan Frontier was arrested for DUI drugs. 695

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — University of San Diego officials say they are investigating white supremacy social media accounts that claim to have ties to the university.In a joint statement from several USD leadership, the school says in the last 24 hours it has been made aware of Instagram accounts that claim to have ties to the school and are used to "post white supremacy propaganda."USD said it is investigating the source of the social media accounts and are making formal requests to Instagram to remove them, with some already taken down.The school slammed the accounts as "abhorrent and hateful" and condemned the posts. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivors live with an invisible injury, and its effects can be debilitating."I was not happy with myself, I was unhealthy, I was seeking all sorts of excitement and danger, I was drinking a whole heck of a lot, very angered, always in pain, migraines, physically and emotionally drained, unhealthy in so many ways," said Jimmy Works, a retired Marine Corps veteran.While his last deployment was in 2010, Works was only diagnosed with TBI this year despite suffering multiple head injuries in combat."It's part of life, it's a new reality," said Works. Works and other TBI survivors are now finding healing through LoveYourBrain Yoga, an evidence-based program now in dozens of states. "What's unique about the LoveYourBrain series is it's specifically for survivors of traumatic brain injuries and their caregivers," said Nancine Decherd, a facilitator for the program.
