BEIJING, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang Monday met with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono and some other cabinet ministers who were here to attend the fifth high-level economic dialogue between China and Japan.
STRONG ROLE OF GOVERNMENT
During the discussion, foreign participants said advancing the joint building of the Belt and Road is one of the greatest initiatives for economic cooperation in today's world, and expressed willingness to align their respective countries' development strategies with the initiative.
Both sides agreed that they have broad common interests in deepening mutual beneficial and win-win practical cooperation, share common ground on upholding multilateralism and an open world economy as well as opposing protectionism and unilateralism, and have common goals in improving global governance and maintaining world peace and stability.
The BRI, proposed by Xi in 2013, aims to build a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe, Africa and beyond.
