(KGTV) - It started when Amber Gilles posted a photo of San Diego Starbucks barista Lenin Gutierrez with the caption “Meet lenen from Starbucks who refused to serve me cause I’m not wearing a mask. Next time I will wait for cops and bring a medical exemption.”A stranger in Orange County, Matt Cowan, said he wanted to donate a few dollars to the barista in tip money, so he started a GoFundMe. As the photo on Facebook filled with hundreds of thousands of interactions and comments from people supporting the barista, the tip money eventually hit more than 0,000 to be donated to the barista. And I do have asthma as well, and I do get mask-acne. So there’s several things going on and not only that but it doesn’t even work.”She provided ABC 10News with two documents to prove her medical exemption. One is a pelvic exam from 2015 with results that say “probable exophytic fibroid arising from the anterior wall of the uterus measuring 2.9 cm size.” and “simple 2.5 cm left ovarian cyst.” A second piece of paper is a handwritten note with letterhead from a San Diego chiropractor who she asked not be named. The hand written note reads “Amber has underlying breath conditions that prevent her from wearing a mask or any type of facial covering whatsoever. Please contact me if have any questions.”When that chiropractor who wrote the note was called, he said he could not discuss her situation. When Gilles was asked why a chiropractor gave her a breathing-related medical exemption, she responded “because they are dedicated to providing non-invasive personalized care and treatment. They are real doctors.”When asked if she has an apology or message to the public, Gilles said “No absolutely not. I feel like I need the apology. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- Thousands of people got their vaccinations Saturday, to kick off this year's flu season. The vaccination event was held at four Kaiser Permanente locations in San Diego County.For Byron Frohm, a trip to Kaiser Permanente in Mid-September is an annual tradition. "I can't think of any reason not to get it," Frohm said. The reason he does get the flu shot is his perfect, 40-year flu-free record. He says the vaccinations help him ward off the dangerous bug. "This virus is very strong," Shreya Chandra, MD. said. "It is hitting our community, and getting the vaccination really is prevention."Last season, health officials recorded 77 deaths in San Diego County. In the 2017-2018 season, there were 343 deaths. This was the highest number of fatalities since the county began tracking flu data nearly two decades ago. Already this year, there has been one confirmed flu-related death. The county said a 74-year-old Chula Vista man died August 15, 2019, due to complications from Influenza B. All the more reason for 76-year-old Frohm to stick to his regimen. "At my age, I'm probably more susceptible," Frohm said. Other high-risk groups include pregnant women, people with asthma, diabetes, and other illnesses. Some symptoms of Influenza include high fever, severe body aches, nausea, sore throat, and fatigue. This could last up to two weeks. Many people mistake the signs to that of the common cold. Doctors say many people who have the flu do not show any symptoms. But they can still spread the illness."I can still carry it and pass it on to elderly parents or people who can potentially get really sick from this virus," Dr. Chandra said. That is why Dr. Chandra strongly recommends the annual vaccine. She believes the best treatment is prevention. "We have State-of-the-art care and medicine. We live in San Diego. But the point of this vaccination is that we never need State-of-the-art care. You never get sick in the first place," Dr. Chandra said. 1990

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- Roger Francis, also known as Francis Love, died two years ago at the age of 70. He was a marine who served in the Vietnam War. When he died, his family discovered about 300 paintings from over the years and as of a few months ago his sister, Peggy Starns found a gallery to host an art show. "He goes what are you going to do with all these paintings and I said I don’t now we already gave a bunch to the church."For a period of his life, Love was homeless. "He was homeless for about 20 years and then he finally hooked up with VA and then he got some living expenses and was in the studio,” his sister tells 10News. After being homeless for two decades, he grew close with the community and continued to donate after he got his own apartment. Two years since his death, all proceeds from the art show on Friday will go to the Alpha Project to help San Diego’s homeless. 250 paintings will be for sale at Good Friday Gallery located downtown at 556 19th Street. SAN DIEGO (KGTV): Wall Street set a record last week for the longest "Bull" run in US Stock Market history, topping 3,400 days of growth. Now, financial experts are saying it won't last forever and advising clients to prepare for a downturn."You have to expect at some point, we're due," says Dennis Brewster of SagePoint Financial. "I think everybody's almost forgotten, look at earlier in the year, how sharp the markets broke back in February. So it wouldn't be unusual to see any of those declines coming up later this year or early next year."Brewster says he doesn't expect anything as drastic as 2008, but he still says investors should take a few steps to safeguard their earnings and even make the downturn work in your favor.A lot of it, he says, depends on how close you are to retirement."When you look at the year to year returns, they're all over the board. When you look at the 20-30 year returns they're very close," says Brewster. "If you're younger and have 20-30 year horizons, the day to day gyrations are almost noise to you. But if you're getting closer to retirement or in retirement, then you have to be more careful."'Brewster looked up numbers from the S&P 500 for the last 20 years. He says someone who invested ,000 in 1998 would have lost about ,300 after the crash in 2008. But if they kept their money in until 2018, that same ,000 investment would now be worth more than ,000.He says older investors should be more conservative with their portfolios. Younger investors should increase how much they invest if the market falls, to take advantage of lower prices.As for when the correction could come, Brewster says it's too tough to predict. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A California man convicted five years ago of defrauding several local governments in the state has been charged with trying to steal million from the Paycheck Protection Program. Federal prosecutors announced Friday that Attila Colar of Richmond submitted nine loan applications and falsified payroll tax documents. He received .1 million from one of the applications, but his defense attorney said the money was never spent and was later seized by the FBI. Colar, who goes by several aliases including Dahood Sharieff Bey, is the former leader of a Black Muslim temple in Oakland. He was convicted in 2015 of submitting bogus documents to win security contracts. 698
