ISLAMABAD, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Acting President and Senate Chairman Farooq Hamid Naek and National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza visited the newly-launched Pakistan-China Friendship Center in Islamabad on Thursday.Naek and Mirza, with the company of Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Liu Jian, visited the friendship hall, conference rooms and other facilities in the center.They also toured a photography exhibition highlighting the history of the bilateral ties and an exhibition of masterpieces of the Chinese brush painting.In a message left on a guestbook, Naek viewed the friendship center as a symbol of the close friendly brotherly ties between the two countries. CHANGSHA, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- A former Party discipline chief in a central China city was executed Thursday after being convicted of multiple counts of crime, said a local court.Zeng Jinchun, former secretary of the Chenzhou Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice secretary of the CPC Chenzhou Municipal Committee, was executed by shooting, said a statement from the Intermediate People's Court of Changsha City, capital of the central China's Hunan Province.Zeng was found guilty of taking more than 31 million yuan (about 4.7 million U.S. dollars) in bribes alone or along with others since the latter half of 1997 through to September 2006, said the court source.In return, he gave the bribers mine contracts and job promotions.Zeng had assets worth around 9.5 million yuan which he couldn't account for.He was sentenced to death by the Intermediate People's Court of Changsha City in November 2008 for accepting bribes and failing to account for his assets.The Hunan Provincial Higher People's Court rejected Zeng's appeal in July 2009. The Supreme People's Court had approved the death sentence handed down to Zeng, said the statement.

BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- China's central bank warned about the risk of credit card related bad debt on Thursday as money owed 180 days past the due date was on the rise in the third quarter.Credit cards debt 180 days past the due repayment date stood at 7.92 billion yuan (1.19 billion U.S. dollars) by the end of the third quarter, up 8.5 percent from the second quarter, according to a statement released Thursday on the website of the People's Bank of China.Taking this into account, the central bank warned commercial banks to pay close attention to risks associated with credit card related bad debt.Money owed 180 days past the due repayment date accounted for 2.1 percent of the total amount of debt by the end of the third quarter, down 0.4 percentage point from the second quarter, according to the statement.
