SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego woman said her ex-boyfriend stole naked pictures of her and posted one online without her permission. She said people saw the post and took screenshots of it.She’s now suing the man she says posted the photo, her ex-boyfriend William Ashley Oliver III."This pretty much consumed my life,” she told Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin.That’s L.S describing how one social media post of her naked body wrecked her sense of security. 10News is not naming the woman, but instead using the initials L.S. as they appear in her lawsuit against Oliver to protect her identity.“He was threatening for so long to do it that I didn't think he'd really do it,” she said.Their relationship started as most do: Girl meets boy, they fall in love and move in together. "I felt like I really got to know him fast and fell in love fast,” she said.Just like many relationships, everything was great until it wasn't. Unlike the typical breakup story, here's where this takes a different path.L.S. said she moved back to California in October of last year, about eight months after the relationship started.Oliver came to visit in late November, but things did not go well, she said.She said her ex-boyfriend became aggressive."He smashed my laptop in two, he smashed my brand new iPhone on the ground until it was shattered, and was calling me really horrible things,” she said.According to the lawsuit she filed, before leaving, Oliver took L.S’s passport and jewelry from the bathroom sink.A few days after that incident, while Oliver was still in San Diego, he began sending harassing text messages and copies of private photographs to L.S. to make it clear that at some point in their relationship he illegally accessed her computers and cell phones and stole sexually explicit and private digital photographs without her consent, the lawsuit stated."The pictures that he had were never sent to him they were taken before I ever met him," she said.According to the lawsuit, Oliver texted her: “Posted all your naked pics to the industry whore boards.” It said he also wrote among other things: “Your pics are getting blasted on services Moxy.”The lawsuit says L.S.’s pleas for Oliver to stop had no effect on him. The lawsuit claims Oliver then posted a sexually explicit photo of her on his public Instagram account, accessible by anyone, followed with the text: “(y)our naked pics are starting to proliferate.""My best friend sent me a text message, and she just said oh my god, and it was a screenshot of the picture that Will had posted on Instagram of me,” she said.Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin asked her what she thought when she saw that.“I was just so scared,” she said. “I was just devastated.”According to the lawsuit, Oliver admitted he posted the picture. The lawsuit stated L.S. was informed by a friend and multiple colleagues that they saw the photograph on Oliver’s Instagram site and knew it was her."I don’t know how many people have that; it's everywhere,” she said.Team 10 tried to get a hold of Oliver, but he hung up after answering once and didn’t respond to our request for comment.L.S is suing Oliver for revenge porn among other things. She said having her body on display for anyone to see is sickening.When Team 10 asked her how often she thinks about it, she said, “Every day, every day, many times a day.”L.S. did call the police but did not press charges against Oliver. The Penal Code section is 647(j)(4)(A).Typical punishment may include custody of up to six months in county jail per charge, three years of probation, public work service, counseling, a waiver of Fourth Amendment Rights, and fines of up to ,000 per charge.A spokesperson told 10News they’ve filed the charge 11 times since 2015, with nine cases resulting in a conviction, one awaiting trial, and one defendant failing to appear at arraignment.“Revenge porn is an egregious betrayal of a person’s trust, an attack on their privacy and reputation,” said City Attorney Mara W. Elliott. “Victims should know that our Sex Crimes Unit prosecutes these cases aggressively.”A spokesperson for the San Diego County District Attorney said from 2015 to 2018 they located six cases where the facts are consistent with ‘revenge porn.’ 4432

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A similar Observation Wheel to those in England and Paris could come to Balboa Park for a short term stay.The Cohn Restaurant Group and Sky Views of America presented the idea of the Balboa Park Star to the Balboa Park Committee Meeting on October 1.They hope the wheel would attract more visitors and re-energize the park."We have operated these observation wheels during the pandemic," Vice President of Sky Views of America Ben Pickett said.The gondolas are enclosed and climate controlled. According to the presentation, they are sanitized after each ride and safety protocols comply with state, local and CDC guidelines. Masks would be required for passengers and staff. The presentation was met with excitement by the committee."I love the fact it is innovative and outside the box," Committee Member Victoria Curran said. "This is a terrific idea, I love it!" Committee Member Johanna Schiavoni added."Sometimes it's the craziest ideas that are the best ones," Committee Member Micah Parzen said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A woman was sentenced in a federal courtroom Wednesday for stealing mail from nearly 120 San Diegans and cashing stolen checks at banks.Marie Crystal Mays, 33, was sentenced to four years in prison for conspiring to steal mail from residents, including in the Rancho Pe?asquitos area, and defrauding banks in order to cash the stolen checks, according to the Office of the United States Attorney Southern District of California.Prosecutors say the investigation identified at least 119 victims.Mays pleaded guilty in August 2019 to conspiracy, bank fraud, aggravated identity theft, possession of stolen mail, and possession with intent to unlawfully use five or more identification documents.As part of her scheme, she stole credit cards, checks, and money orders from mailboxes, authorities say. She then created a bank account in a victim's name, deposited stolen checks, and withdrew money for herself.A judge also ordered Mays to pay ,950.66 in restitution to four banks and credit unions.“The people of San Diego deserve the peace of mind of knowing that when they send or receive mail, thieves won’t steal it from their mailboxes and scavenge for credit cards, checks and personally identifiable information,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. “The defendant’s conduct showed a callous and selfish disregard for scores of citizens’ privacy.” 1377

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A shopper at Westfield UTC mall got a disturbing surprise while going to the bathroom, in the form of a cell phone's camera lens.Around noon on Saturday, amid a busy holiday shopping day, Mike Gonzalez went to the bathroom. His wife and 5-year-old daughter were waiting for him in the nearby food court."The urinals were taken so I went into the stall," said Gonzalez. Gonzalez went inside the stall at the far end."I'm finishing up my business, and I see a cell phone pop out of the stall next to me and pop back like that," said Gonzalez.He says the phone slid against the back wall just enough for the camera lens to be visible."Wow, did that actually happen?" said Gonzalez. Gonzalez' confusion quickly gave way to action."I was angry and felt violated," said Gonzalez. He told another man to get mall security before turning his attention to the stall."When you looked at the stall, he had it blocked with paper towels. You couldn't see in, top to bottom. Kicked the door a little and told him to get out," said Gonzalez.Gonzalez says the man that emerged was in his early 20s, about 5'10", 175 lbs, with curly, light brown hair. Gonzalez told him what he saw and the man denied it all."I was pushing him back, holding him in place so he couldn't leave," said Gonzalez.The shoving moved into the hallway, before the man slipped away and raced off. Gonzalez says what makes his skin crawl the most is the paper towel setup, which may mean the man had been in there awhile, taking photos. "The scariest thing is probably what if there were kids in there. You can put photos and videos online.
