SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Restitution payments were sent this week to the victim of an investor who stole .5 million, San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan said Friday in a news release. Shawn Heffernan of the Heffernan Group took the investments of 15 people “who were susceptible to fraud due to inattention or advanced age,” the DA’s office said. Heffernan spent the money on personal items, including a lavish wedding and a Maserati. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are warning parents in the Carmel Valley area after a man reportedly exposed himself to students walking to school Tuesday.Police say a man was in the passenger side of a parked car on Carmel Creek Road, and exposed and touched himself inappropriately with the car door open. This is exactly what we never want to see happen again,” said Heather Finlay with the YWCA. Finlay says she was devastated after learning of the mother and her children killed over the weekend. YWCA offers an emergency shelter and transitional housing for parents and families dealing with domestic violence. According to SANDAG, in 2018, more than 17,000 domestic violence incidents were reported in San Diego County. “Leaving an intimate partnership is never easy especially if there are children involved,” said Yvette Lopez-Cooper with the San Diego Family Justice Center. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego officials are offering a new location to help temporarily shelter migrants seeking asylum.The city says it has identified a new property to use as a shelter since its current temporary shelter doesn't have the occupancy for long-term sheltering, in a letter to California's Office of Emergency Services."The county recently vacated the Camp Barrett youth correctional facility in Alpine. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diegans are bracing for another winter storm expected to bring rain and snow to the county Monday. The latest round of wet weather is expected to be the heaviest in San Diego County, bringing between half an inch to an inch of rain to the coast. According to the National Weather Service, parts of San Diego County could see heavy snow. The NWS says elevations will be between 5,000 to 5,500 feet for the region's mountains. Elevations above 5,500 feet could see between five and 10 inches of snow accumulation. “Highest amounts will be southeast of Big Bear in and around Mt. San Gorgonio, over Mt. San Jacinto, and over Mt. Laguna where locally up to a foot is possible,” the National Weather Service said. Meteorologists are warning about slippery roads in areas where snow is expected.
