SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego Padres are scheduled to face an opponent at Petco Park for the first time in 2020 Monday, nearly four months later than planned, playing the Los Angeles Angels in an exhibition game.The March 26 start to the regular season -- which included the Padres opening day game against the Colorado Rockies at Petco Park -- was all wiped out by the coronavirus outbreak.Under the revised schedule which calls for the regular season to begin Thursday, teams can play up to three exhibition games. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and City Councilman Chris Ward announced the start of construction Friday on dedicated infrastructure for cyclists and scooter riders in downtown San Diego.Faulconer and Ward's news conference marked the beginning of phase one of the Downtown Mobility Plan, roughly two and a half years after the City Council unanimously approved it. Once complete, the plan calls for the addition of about nine miles of cycle track through downtown -- bike lanes with a barrier to protect cyclists from vehicle traffic."As we encourage people to get out of their cars more, we need to build transportation networks that provide safe paths of travel for everyone," Faulconer said. The November unemployment rate is down from a revised 3.3 percent in October and even further below the 3.5 percent rate in November 2017. Total nonfarm employment increased by 9,800 jobs from October to November while total farm employment lost 300 jobs. Nonfarm employment now totals 1,503,800 in San Diego County and farm jobs total 8,500. The trade, transportation and utilities industry added 5,900 jobs month-over-month, the most of any industry in the county. Government was the county's only other industry to add more than 800 jobs, increasing by 2,900. According to EDD data, 1,300 of the government jobs added were in the state and local education sub-industries. The leisure and hospitality industry continued to lose jobs as 2018 recedes further away from the summer months. The industry lost the most jobs of any in the county from October to November at 1,300. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County public health officials reported 308 new COVID-19 cases and three additional deaths Sunday, raising the county's cumulative totals to 40,650 cases and 707 fatalities.Two women and one man died between July 29 and Aug. 31. Their ages ranged from the mid-50s to mid-90s. Two of the three had underlying medical conditions.San Diego County's state-calculated case rate is 5.8 and the testing positivity percentage is 3.8%.Of 4,271 tests reported as of Saturday, 7% returned positive, raising the county's 14-day rolling positive testing rate to 4.3%, well below the state's 8% guideline. The seven-day average number of tests performed in the county is 6,946.Of the total positive cases in the county, 3,214 -- or 7.9% -- have required hospitalization since the pandemic began, and 772 -- or 1.9% -- were admitted to an intensive care unit.County health officials reported two new community outbreaks as of Saturday, bringing the number of outbreaks in the past week to 20.
