Garth Brooks has decided it’s someone else’s turn to win the Entertainer of the Year award from the Country Music Association Awards.The announcement came during a Facebook Live on Brooks’ page during a remote press conference.Brooks has won the award seven times."It's time for somebody else to hold the award and know what entertainer of the year feels like," he said.He said after last year’s CMA ceremony, there was one tweet that really stuck with him."It said, 'Why doesn't he step down and have entertainer of the year be for the next generation’. I 100 percent agreed," Brooks said.Brooks talked to the association about creating some sort of entertainer of the year emeritus.However, the Country Music Association said they were unable to control who is nominated for which category. “It’s not our call, we can’t pull you out of an award” they reportedly told Brooks.“We are going to do it ourselves. We are going to pull out from the entertainer of the year,” Brooks announced.Brooks said he is not withdrawing from other categories or award shows, "I'm very competitive, the awards mean the world to me" Brooks said. Hawaiian authorities are urging sightseers to stay away as Leilani Estates residents return to check on their neighborhood, which is threatened by lava and toxic gases emerging from fissures in the subdivision.Big Island's Kilauea volcano erupted Thursday, spewing molten rock and high levels of sulfur dioxide.Cracks emerged in the volcano's East Rift Zone -- an area of fissures miles away from the volcano's summit. Stand by for further information."Jim Hardman is a Desert Storm US Army veteran and a former police officer who teaches survival classes.In an active shooting, he says everyone should know three keywords: run, hide, fight.First: Run.Hardman says wherever you are, always know where the exit is."I walk into a store or a new business," he said, "and ask myself where can I get out?"Hear gunshots? Hardman says run if you can, without running into gunfire."If I decide to run, I move with a purpose," he said. "I'm not just running through the center or a room to try to get away."Second: Hide.Hardman says to look for a spot that might stop bullets."I position myself to where I've got that filing cabinet, that copier, something that's heavy."Hardman says never try to reason with someone already shooting. Statistics show you cannot stop him at that point."Once that active killing starts, that rationalization is out the door."Obviously, your best bet is to escape. Every day, her team is fielding calls from people who have run out of money and are now facing eviction proceedings."People are panicked,” she said. “I think the low-level panic that we’re all running around, because of COVID and in this, it's a lot.”The current impending housing crisis could not be hitting at a worse time. As COVID-19 cases spike across the country, many Americans are quarantining at home to stay safe, while at the same time, millions of people are in danger of losing their homes.Housing courts in many states are still closed, so eviction hearings have to be done via Zoom, which presents its own challenges."One of the areas of law where people self-represent the most is eviction cases, so it’s the worst case to have this happen in," Ross added.Before COVID-19, lawyers would often resolve cases without a judge getting involved. Now, however, evictions hearings are being drawn out because attorneys can’t meet in-person.
