Your two favorite tiger cubs are ready for visitors at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Friday the zoo released video of the cubs enjoying their new home. The approximately 3-month-old, rescued Bengal tiger cub and his 4-month-old companion, a Sumatran tiger cub are settling in nicely at the Tull Family Tiger Trail. “The two cubs are adjusting really well to their new home,” said Lori Hieber, senior mammal keeper at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. “They’re doing great. They are fully weaned from formula, and now eat an exclusively carnivore diet.As they continue to grow, the Bengal tiger will eventually outweigh the Sumatran tiger by about 200 pounds, given the difference between these two tiger subspecies.“We feel really fortunate to have these two cubs here,” said Hieber. “It was an unusual circumstance for us to acquire them, but we think they’re in the best possible hands, and they’re going to have a wonderful life while they’re here at Tiger Trail.” The cubs will be visible to guests daily from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. They may also be seen occasionally on the Safari Park’s online Tiger Cam.Like all tigers, the critically endangered Sumatran tiger and endangered Bengal tiger subspecies face many challenges in the wild, from loss of habitat to conflicts with humans, but the biggest threat continues to be poaching. Tigers are killed by poachers who illegally sell tiger body parts, mostly for folk remedies. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — There won't be a single Division 1 college football game played in San Diego this year, leaving local athletic directors searching for revenue streams.Another side effect of coronavirus-related restrictions have been cancellations across the U.S. for college athletics. The impact to some universities and college communities could total in the hundreds of millions of dollars."It can be anywhere from a million hit to a couple million dollar hit," says SDSU Athletic Director J.D. Wicker.And even if games can be played in California, restrictions on fans will leave a hole in revenue."We have tightened our belt. We've made across the board budget reductions," USD Athletic Director Bill McGillis said. "The amount of ticket-related revenue is going to be zero."McGillis adds that when the Pac-12 postponed basketball games in November and December, it cost the Toreros lucrative games at UCLA and Washington."That's a six-figure revenue loss," McGillis said.Meanwhile, Wicker is hoping to play enough football this spring to avoid losing money from a new TV deal that was supposed to kick in this fall. But recounts rarely flip the result of an election.From 2009 to 2019, there were 5,778 statewide general elections, according to the non-partisan group FairVote. In that span there were 31 completed recounts.Only three of the 31 recounts flipped the outcome of the race, FairVote found. Those recounts were a Washington governor’s race in 2004, an auditor’s race in Vermont in 2006, and a 2008 race in Minnesota that made Al Franken a U.S. Senator.Deb Otis, a senior research analyst with FairVote, said in all three of these cases, the original margin heading into the recount was razor thin: less than .05 percent.“We generally see a shift in votes during recounts on the order of a few hundred votes or maybe 1000 votes,” said Otis. “The margin in Wisconsin right now is around 20,000 votes. We have not seen a statewide recount shift votes anywhere near 20,000.”The most memorable recount was in Florida in 2000, in the race between George W. Bush and Al Gore. That recount shifted the margin by 1,247 votes.
