DETROIT — A dispensary in Detroit has launched a service that brings marijuana directly to its customer's door.Utopia Gardens LLC launched a delivery service for patients approved to purchase medical marijuana."Some of our patients are sick and going through chemotherapy, etc; so it’s a more convenient way for them to be able to shop without having to leave their houses," said dispensary manager Donnell Cravens.According to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, three licensed dispensaries or provisioning centers are now able to provide a delivery service service legally: Utopia Gardens LLC in Detroit, Lake Effect Group LLC in Portage, and BotaniQ in Detroit.Patients are required to have their medical marijuana card verified and the product can only be delivered to the address on the card.“This was easier than placing an online order through Amazon, not gonna lie to you," said Rashon Massey, one of the first patients to use the new service.Think of it like Grubhub or Uber Eats, only for weed.“This is exciting. I have chronic pain so I can’t always leave the house. I have a small business so this convenience is everything for me," Massey said.The delivery normally takes around 45 minutes to arrive.Customers ordering within Wayne County, which houses Detroit, must place an order of in order to be eligible for delivery. Customers in nearby Macomb and Oakland Counties must order a minimum of 0. There is no additional charge for delivery.“If you do a call-in order, you call in and we verify all of your information through the state-wide database to make sure you are a valid card holder," Cravens said.Patients may only pay via a debit card, Cravens said, as to insure drivers aren't put at risk by transporting large amounts of cash.In the three days since the service started, Cravens said Utopia Gardens has already made about 15 deliveries.It's a service the dispensary eventually wants to offer for recreational products as well, pending state approval. 2021

Days before Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation, a Democratic senator urged the FBI to reach out to a witness who had key information about alleged misconduct by the nominee while at Yale, according to a letter obtained by CNN.The letter comes as The New York Times reported over the weekend that the Times had interviewed more individuals who had corroborated the allegation of Deborah Ramirez, a Yale classmate who alleged Kavanaugh had exposed himself to her at a dorm room party. The Times also reported that there was another previously undisclosed allegation raised by Max Stier, a Yale classmate who told the Times that he had witnessed Kavanaugh engage in another, similar incident.CNN is not reporting any details of the accusation and has not independently corroborated the account. The Times on Sunday evening published an Editor's Note to its original story saying the female victim declined to be interviewed, and her friends told the authors she does not recall the incident.In a letter dated October 2, 2018, Sen. Chris Coons, a Democrat from Delaware, sent a letter to the FBI requesting that the agency talk to individuals that had more information about Kavanaugh. Specifically, Coons suggested the FBI talk to Stier. It's unclear from the letter exactly what information Stier had, but Coons suggests the FBI talk to him. Stier's name in the letter is redacted in the version seen by CNN, but an aide for Coons told CNN that that the name was Stier's. Coons had copied then-Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, an Iowa Republican, and its top Democrat, Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California.An aide to Coons emphasized that the reason that the senator chose to share the information in a letter was that he wanted the FBI to get the information and the reason he was careful about sharing it was that Stier had insisted on the information being shared confidentially at the time.In the letter to the FBI, Coons wrote that his office had been contacted by numerous individuals who had information to share with the FBI as part of their investigation into Kavanaugh, and while he could not speak to "the relevancy or veracity of the information that many of these individuals seek to provide ... there is one individual whom I would like to specifically refer to you for appropriate follow up." DETROIT — A Detroit Police Department officer is at the center of an internal investigation after he showed up under the influence of alcohol to training in Lansing, Michigan, Detroit Police Chief James Craig told reporters Friday. Michigan State Police say it was discovered after the officer volunteered to be part of a demonstration on breathalyzer training.The incident comes a week after another officer, who was still in her probationary period, was arrested for allegedly selling drugs. The officer at the training facility in Lansing blew a .08, said Craig. The officer was not arrested because he was not armed at the time and did not drive to the training session, according to Michigan State Police. The matter was turned over to Detroit police. When asked, a police spokesperson declined to tell WXYZ how long the officer has been with the department. 876
