SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A jury has reached a verdict in the civil trial between NFL star Drew Brees and a San Diego-based jeweler. A jury Friday found local jeweler Vahid Moradi liable for fraud, awarding Brees ,130,767 in damages in his lawsuit against Moradi.The Brees family accused Moradi and his company, CJ Charles Jewelers in La Jolla, of selling Brees and his wife several supposedly investment grade diamonds that would appreciate in value 150 to 200 percent.RELATED: Closing arguments being held in civil trial between NFL star Drew Brees and San Diego-based jewelerThat wasn't the case, according to Brees, who says Moradi lied about the true value of the diamonds. Between 2012 and 2016, the Brees family says Moradi sold them million in diamonds. He then pries open a locked window, steps onto the chair and into the home.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhood"Just a sense of violation," said Howell.The man is then seen on the phone, possibly with a lookout."You can hear him discussing 'it's safe now' or 'somebody just went by,'" said Howell.Moments later, the man heads straight for the bedroom closet, dragging out a small safe, before carrying it out the front door.By the time Howell saw his text alert, the intruder was gone. The man was in the home for about 15 minutes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A patient who tested positive for novel coronavirus in San Diego County has fully recovered, UC San Diego said Wednesday. The hospital says it was informed of the recovery by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The individual is no longer infectious and was discharged Wednesday. The person is also no longer under federal quarantine or isolation orders. The news comes as the San Diego Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to extend a local public health emergency in response to the virus. Shantel Carrillo, who’s five and a half months pregnant with her second child, had the medical exam Monday at Sharp Grossmont Hospital. She didn’t expect the photograph to go viral. “I didn’t see it; I just posted the original picture online,” said Carrillo. Friends quickly pointed out the ultrasound image resembled a picture of Carrillo’s father Charles, who died in 2016, holding Carrillo’s oldest daughter Myree. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Kearny Mesa couple says a local hawk is preying on neighborhood cats, and hope their story prompts pet owners to be cautious. Over Memorial Day weekend Caralee and Joe Jaeckels took their cats outside to enjoy the garden. Not long after, they said a hawk swooped down. "At first we thought it was kind of cool," they said. "It's this bird flying around. But we discovered pretty quickly that it was not a cool thing."The bird began attacking the couple's cat Ludwick. Thankfully, the 16-pound cat was able to escape with only a scratch on his face. His owners say this probably meant he was too heavy for the hawk to carry him away. 677
