PARMA, Ohio — It's a story 30 years in the making.Shortly before graduating from Parma Senior High School in Parma, Ohio, Jim Biehl customized, purchased and started wearing his class ring.It was your typical class ring with a green emerald gem, a cross etched below the stone and Biehl's signature on the inside.But Biehl would only spend about one year with that ring.When he was 17 years old he went on a church trip to Michigan. During the journey, the group stopped in Parma, Michigan. Ironically, that's when he would lose that brand new class ring."I woke up one morning to move on to the next destination of our trip, the next leg, and couldn't find it," Biehl said. "Haden't seen hide nor hair of it since then."The then-teenager spent a couple of years searching for the lost piece of jewelry only to come up short each and every time.Biehl thought the ring was gone forever — until recently.Biehl said he was alerted to a Facebook post inside the Parma Senior High School Alumni Association. Pink ice is causing the scientific community some concern. The Presena Glacier in northern Italy appears pink because of algae on it, which scientists say could speed up melting of the ice.The Presena Glacier is in the Alps, just south of Italy’s border with Switzerland. While there is debate about where the algae came from, Biagio Di Mauro of Italy’s National Research Council told The Guardian the pink snow observed on parts of the Presena glacier is likely caused by the same plant found in Greenland. 515

Phoenix police say a woman has died in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday evening. The incident happened near 43rd Avenue and Union Hills Drive around 7 p.m.Police say no officers were injured in the shooting.According to police, around 6:45 p.m. officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. As officers arrived, a woman reportedly ran out with an AR-15 style rifle and fired shots which prompted officers to return fire, hitting the woman.Police say the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. No further information was immediately available.  592

PHOENIX - Believe it or not, a shelter pup was returned to the Arizona Animal Welfare League in Phoenix because he was too good.In a Monday Facebook post, AAWL said 1-year-old Binx was adopted and returned within 48 hours with notes saying he's potty-trained, good with kids and fun to play with. Turns out, Binx's temporary new family wanted more of a challenge from their adoptive pooch and returned him to AAWL.According to the shelter's Facebook page, Binx "can't get anything done at the shelter because everyone is petting me, telling me what a good boy I am, and taking me for walks!"Binx's profile on the AAWL?website says an active family would be ideal for the large-breed dog, who loves to run, hike, and do "anything that involves being outside."Anyone who wants more information on Binx can check him out here. 836
