DRESDEN, Germany, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Li Changchun, a senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with Stanislaw Tillich, premier of the eastern German state of Saxony here on Monday.Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, arrived here earlier in the day for an official goodwill visit.Cooperation between localities constitutes an important part of Sino-German ties, Li said. She said she looked forward to a clean tech workshop slated for Wednesday.Halonen arrived at Beijing Tuesday morning, kicking off her six-day visit to China. BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- As of 8:00 a.m. Monday local time, there had been 1,206 aftershocks following the 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Yushu, according to statistics from the China Earthquake Administration.Among the aftershocks, 12 were above 3 magnitude, one between 6.0 and 6.9 magnitude, three between 4.0 and 4.9 magnitude and eight between 3.0 and 3.9 magnitude.There has been no more aftershocks above 3 magnitude since a 3.6 tremor occurred at 7:00 a.m. April 17.The 7.1 magnitude quake, which jolted the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu on April 14, had left at least 1,706 dead, 256 missing and 12,128 injured, as of 10 a.m. Sunday.

BEIJING, June 8 -- South China's Guangdong province has taken the lead in the country by introducing a new accumulating points system to grant urban hukou, or household registration, to migrant workers.The province plans to attract 1.8 million migrant workers to become urban residents via the points accumulation system before the end of 2012, according to Lin Wangping, deputy director-general of the Guangdong provincial bureau of human resources and social security."In addition to helping speed up the province's urban construction, the accumulating points system aims to let more migrant workers share in the province's economic growth achievements together with urban residents and help build a harmonious society," Lin said at a press conference on Monday."Guangdong encourages more farmer-workers to settle down in cities and become urban residents in the upcoming years," she said.Guangdong aims to achieve an urbanization target of 67.5 percent by the end of 2012.And mass events and social conflicts will be avoided or reduced in the years ahead when the province's large number of farmers-turned workers can enjoy the same social treatment as their urban counterparts, she said.Currently, farmers and migrant workers cannot enjoy the same treatment as their urban counterparts in employment, education, medical treatment, social security and related fields in the society.

STOCKHOLM, May 9 (Xinhua) -- To mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sweden, a Guqin concert was held in Stockholm on Sunday evening.The concert presented 12 different pieces, half of them about Guqin, some of them are the Xiao, a beautiful flute. Some of them they played together. All the music are about 2000 years old. One of the most beautiful ones is called Liushui, Flowing Water, that piece is on a golden disk in a voyage in an American Spaceship went away in 1977 out in the outer space.Famous sinologist Cecilia Lindqvist planned the concert with the support of Sweden's National Music Association, Chinese Embassy in Sweden and Sweden's Union of Chinese Associations."It's a very important day because 60 years ago exactly on this date, May 9, Sweden and China established diplomatic relations, and actually Sweden was the first country in the west to do so.
