A Florida sheriff’s office honored a four-month old dog it says showed the “tenacity” to be a deputy dog.In October, Gunner was locked in the jaws of an alligator in Lee County, Florida. The dog’s owner, Richard Wilbanks, jumped into the pond and fought off the alligator, allowing Gunner to make an escape.“We were just out for a Sunday morning stroll by a pond and Gunner, all of a sudden, I just heard him yelp,” Wilbanks said. “I looked around and saw the alligator swimming around the pond with him. I just jumped in the water and caught up with the alligator, got my heads on him and drug him up to the bank and pinned him down and pried his jaws open.”“Crazy story, happy to say Gunner is here today,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said.Marceno bestowed Gunner with his badge this week after escaping the alligator."Do you swear to uphold the Constitutional law for the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Gunner? A hospital in Orange County, California was locked down Tuesday morning after police said someone at the facility called and claimed to have a gun.The incident was reported just after 8:15 a.m. local time at the Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, police said.Santa Ana police said they received a call from someone inside the hospital claiming to be in possession of a gun. The caller did not say anything further, police said.The hospital was locked down as a precaution while about 40 officers conducted a floor-to-floor search, including the facility’s basement and roof.  608

A child had just moments to escape a carjacking when a thief jumped in the vehicle and sped off from a Detroit gas station, police say. According to Detroit Police, the female driver went inside the store to pay for gas. A man used electronic purchase alerts from his bank on a credit card he never received, to track down an alleged crook within hours.In the early morning hours of June 21, Josh Blair noticed an alert on his Apple watch confirming a purchase he made at a nearby gas station.But Blair told KSBY he didn't spend at the gas station and, in fact, Blair said he never even received the new American Express card in the mail the purchase was made on.He decided to find out who was using his new credit card around Santa Barbara.Surveillance footage from Blair's apartment complex shows a man unlock the mailbox and withdraw the envelope containing Blair's credit card.After speaking with officials at the post office, Blair said he learned the key to the boxes was lost and the lock had not yet been replaced.Throughout the morning, a series of charges hit Blair's account, all within miles of his home. So after filing a police report, he decided to track the crook himself."I talked to a friend earlier and he said 'OK, be careful.' And I said 'I guarantee I catch him within 24 hours,'" Blair recounted. "It was actually two hours from that time, I remember. I didn't spend much time thinking about what would happen."Throughout the afternoon, Blair raced from business to business as charges appeared on his card, each time, just missing the thief.Then, Blair got a charge alert from the newly opened hotel and restaurant, so he rushed over and spoke to the bartender."He was like 'yea, I'm sure that guy was just here, he just left the bar. I believe he's staying here, let me go check,'" Blair recalled. "He did that then came back and said the guy just ran out in the parking lot. He told me where, so I ran after him and so did the bartender, he helped me out.
