SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – One of the PGA Tour’s most popular events, the Farmers Insurance Open, will once again be held in San Diego, but no fans will be allowed to attend the January 2021 tournament due to the coronavirus pandemic.Event organizers Century Club of San Diego announced Monday that the Farmers Insurance Open is set for Jan. 25-31 at Torrey Pines Golf Course.However, spectators will be prohibited from the tournament site.Century Club CEO Marty Gorsich said, “We recognize that COVID-19 requires dramatic modifications to the operations of our annual event. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police body-worn cameras captured the parents of Trevor Heitmann pleading with officers to hospitalize their son just hours before he killed himself and two others in a high-speed car crash.In August 2018, Trevor Heitmann, known on his popular YouTube channel as McSkillet, ultimately drove the wrong way down the 805 at speeds over 100 miles per hour before the fatal accident.A lawsuit filed against the City of San Diego claims, police officers failed “to act in accordance with the statute and carry out their mandatory duty,” and as a result, Heitmann, “subsequently and predictably endangered the lives of others and himself and drove his vehicle at speeds in excess of 100 mph, striking Aileen and Aryana Pizarro's vehicle and endangering other members of the public.”The lawsuit goes on to say, “Because he was not evaluated by defendants to determine if he was a danger to himself or others, he was able to carry on with his erratic and mentally unstable behavior, and ultimately colliding head-on with Aileen Lydia Pizarro's vehicle, and thereby, causing fatal injuries to Aileen and Aryana Pizarro." 1137

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Naval Base Point Loma was locked down Thursday over reports of a suspicious person.In a Facebook post, the base said "all personnel onboard the installation are directed to seek shelter in the nearest building and activate lock down procedure" and remain inside until told otherwise. The lockdown was lifted just before 2 p.m. and Harbor Drive was reopened to traffic. The base told 10News that it appeared the caller believed to have seen a suspicious person, but the person in question was not believed to be a threat.The base added the Gateway Youth Center and Patrick Wade CDC had been taken off lockdown and parents allowed to pick up their children.10News is monitoring this breaking news. 722

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police believe the deaths in Otay Mesa Sunday of an elderly man and woman may be a murder-suicide.Police have identified the suspect and victim in the incident as James 82-year-old Rafferty and 83-year-old Kazuko Rafferty. Police believe James shot Kazuko several times and then used the same gun to take his own life. Dispatchers received a call about 10:30 a.m. requesting a welfare check on a married couple who lived at the Ocean Bluffs Mobile Home Park on Del Sol Blvd.Officers responded to the home and received no answer when they knocked on the door and made several phone calls. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect Tuesday they say threatened a woman with a gun in an hotel bathroom. According to police, the incident happened in a bathroom at the Hilton on the 4200 block of Taylor Street in Old Town.Police say the man threatened the woman with a semi-automatic gun.Initially a man who matched that description was detained after a short foot chase. Police say he ran for unknown reasons but was quickly released when they determined he was not the attacker.Authorities describe the suspect as a black man in his mid-20s who is five feet, eight inches tall, was wearing a gray shirt, tan pants, a light colored backpack and has short hair.The suspect is wanted for brandishing a weapon, battery and assault with the attempt to commit a sexual offense. 806
