AMHERST, N.Y. — 8-year-old Caleb Kabala of Amherst said he has a passion for helping other people.“I just like helping other kids and it makes me feel good,” he said. And while Caleb is just a kid himself, he’s proving you are never too young to give back.“I just wanted to help children cause that’s what I usually do.”For the last two weeks, Caleb and his grandma have been selling framed pictures of Santa at pop-up events throughout Western New York. And the Santa seen in each picture frame is the colorful creation of Caleb himself.“The outpouring that he has gotten it's just been... it hasn't stopped," Caleb's grandma said. Money from every picture sold goes straight to charity.“This week we’re gonna donate to the little heroes," Caleb said. "And every other week we’re gonna pick a different charity to donate to.”Caleb plans on selling these picture frames year-round and with different themes. And his reasoning for it was simple.“So I can help out more and more kids,” he said.Right now, Caleb’s picture frames can be purchased on his website for . An explosion rocked a United Parcel Service freight facility in Kentucky on Wednesday morning, injuring at least two people, but authorities say they doubt that the blast stemmed from a terror attack. Instead, it appears to be accidental, they said. The incident took place in Lexington. UPS spokesman Glenn Zaccara told CNN that 12 employees were at the site. Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. In a message on Twitter, the Lexington Fire Department said, "Nothing leads us to believe this is anything other than an accidental explosion."Fire officials also tweeted that six people were taken to the hospital for observation.Initial reports indicate the cause may have been a leak from materials contained in a trailer, Zaccara said.Lt. Jessica Bowman, the fire department's public information officer, said the building is used for truck and trailer maintenance and that there are other UPS buildings in the area that are still in use."There was significant damage to the building. A large area of the roof was blown out and interior walls were knocked down, as well as exterior damage. There's pieces of the roof and insulation on the ground," Bowman said. "There is no life hazard. Crews are on the scene stabilizing the building."UPS is working with local authorities and won't provide additional details while there is an ongoing investigation, officials said.An FBI statement obtained by CNN Law Enforcement Analyst Josh Campbell said the agency "is aware of the incident and is working with our local and state partners to assist as needed. At this time, it does not appear to be a criminal or terrorist act. It appears accidental."CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the facility where the explosion happened. It occurred at a United Parcel Service freight facility.The-CNN-Wire 1849

An eruption from the Kilauea volcano's summit shot ash and smoke into the air early Thursday on Hawaii's Big Island, and the resulting plume is expected to cover the surrounding area, according to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.Nearby residents are being asked to shelter in place if they are in the path of the ash plume, which the wind is carrying to the southeast of the volcano."Driving conditions may be dangerous so if you are driving pull off the road and wait until visibility improves," an alert from the observatory warned.Thursday's eruption is just the latest volcanic activity contributing to the nightmare on the Big Island since the volcano first went off May 3.An ash plume Wednesday rose roughly 12,000 feet into the air, and on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey issued a red alert, which means a major eruption is imminent or underway and ash could affect air traffic. It is not clear if this was a phreatic eruption, which US Geological Survey officials have been saying is capable of sending ash plumes as far as 12 miles away from the summit. These are steam-driven explosions that occur when water beneath the ground or on the surface is heated by magma, lava, hot rocks or new volcanic deposits, the USGS says. The intense heat may cause that water to boil and result in eruptions. The lava lake in the crater has been dropping since May 2, which increases the chances for a phreatic explosion, but it will be difficult to warn residents who may be in the path of such an eruption.Phreatic eruptions are "notoriously hard to forecast, and can occur with little or no warning," Hawaiian Volcano Observatory geologist Janet Babb said. While the ash being launched into the sky is not poisonous, Hawaii County officials have warned residents about toxic sulfur dioxide seeping out of 21 fissures caused by the volcano."Severe conditions may exist such as choking and inability to breathe," the county's Civil Defense Agency said Wednesday. "This is a serious situation that affects the entire exposed population."The-CNN-Wire 2051
An auction house in New Jersey is offering bidders the chance to blow up an Atlantic City casino and hotel once owned by President Donald Trump.Bodnar's Auction Sales says it will open auction bidding Saturday for the chance to press the button that will ignite the controlled implosion of the Trump Plaza Casino and Hotel.According to a description on the live bidding website, all proceeds from the auction will "benefit" the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City."Ever since the start of this pandemic they have seen an increase of young children and adolescents benefit from the services of The Boys & Girl Club and are in need of all the assistance they can get for the community," Bodnar's said in its item description.Bidding for the chance to implode the building is open to anyone, and Bodnar's adds that the demolition can be conducted "anywhere in the world as well as close to the Plaza as we can safely get you there."Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino opened in 1984 — Trump's first property on the famed Atlantic City Boardwalk. However, the casino closed in 2014 and has sat abandoned ever since. In June, Carl Icahn — the senior lender for the Trump Plaza's mortgage — submitted plans to Atlantic for the casino's planned demolition. The city asked that the building be demolished because it had fallen into disrepair, and debris was falling to the boardwalk below. The implosion of the casino is currently slated for early February, according to CNN. Bidding in the auction is slated to open at 7 p.m. ET on January 19. Click here to participate. 1569
