FALLBROOK (CNS) - A fire broke out Wednesday morning in the garage of a Fallbrook home, authorities said.The non-injury blaze was reported around 5:45 a.m. at a single-story home on Wintergreen Lane off Via Del Robles, west of Interstate 15, NorthCounty Fire Protection District Capt. John Choi said.It took crews roughly an hour and 15 minutes to fully extinguish the fire, which started in the garage and eventually spread to the attic, Choi said.A damage estimate was not immediately available.Investigators from the sheriff's Bomb/Arson unit were sent to the scene, and an investigation into the cause of the blaze was underway. 640

ENCINITAS (KGTV) -- The Encinitas Environmental Commission is considering a proposal to ban natural gas hookups in all new construction projects as a way to combat climate change.The plan, which will be heard by the commission again next month, was authored by environmental commissioner Jim Wang. Wang spearheaded the city’s bans on plastic bags and polystyrene containers, commonly known as styrofoam.“The problem is that methane is a much more potent global warming gas than CO2, it’s approximately 85 times as potent,” he said. “Even a small amount of natural gas causes a big problem with global warming.”RELATED: Encinitas proposes ban on gas-powered leaf blowersWang’s proposal would impact both residential and commercial construction, but would not affect existing buildings. In July, Berkley passed a ban on natural gas infrastructure in new construction that will take effect next year. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — Escondido Police say they've arrested one person in connection with a fatal collision that left four people dead last month.Police obtained an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Ashley Rene Williams, of Escondido, on Thursday and took her into custody at her home. Williams has been charged with four counts of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.Williams is accused of being behind the wheel of a 2014 Mazda 3 that struck and killed four people at San Pasqual Valley Rd. at Oak Hill Dr. just before 8:30 p.m. on May 5, police said.Police say Williams' vehicle was traveling northbound when it hit the group, which included a 33-year-old man, 11-year-old boy, 50-year-old woman, and 10-year-old boy. Police told 10News the boys are brothers and the female victim was their grandmother. The man was believed to have been dating the children's mother, according to police. A GoFundMe campaign for funeral expenses is currently running to help the family.Williams was hospitalized with minor injuries after the crash and initially, police told 10News that alcohol or drugs were not believed to have been a factor.The California Department of Motor Vehicles says Williams was driving on a suspended license during the crash. Her driver’s license was suspended on Feb. 18, 2020, for driving with excessive blood alcohol, according to the DMV.
