TAMPA, Fla. — A kitten in Florida is recovering after being stabbed in the face with a dart.Jennifer Tate volunteers with the St. Francis Society Animal Rescue and she can’t wait to bring home the kitten.“We saved a cat about two and half years ago that had been shot with an arrow and we named him Sir Robin. So, we thought it would be appropriate to name her Maid Marian, the love interest of Sir Robin Hood," said Tate.Hillsborough County Animal Services is trying to find out who’s responsible for hurting the cat.“The person that found her said she could not open her mouth, so it had pierced all the way through and actually into part of her throat," Tate said.Someone found the kitten on Aimiee Court, south of Bearss Avenue in Tampa.“It’s horrific. How does somebody walk up to a cat and jam something into her face? And walk away. How do you sleep at night," said Tate.If Maid Marian is ready, she’ll have surgery Friday at Gulf Coast Veterinary Center.Tate will foster her, but eventually, the hope is the kitten will be adopted.“We want her to have the best life and to be able to put this behind her. Surveys suggest a growing number of Americans are willing to get a COVID-19 vaccine, however the latest numbers from Gallup in mid-November show only 58 percent of those surveyed would get the vaccine.A former lawmaker is among those suggesting giving people a stimulus check in exchange for getting a COVID-19 vaccine.During an interview with CNBC, former Maryland Representative John Delaney suggested giving ,500 for getting immunized.“The faster we get 75 percent of this country vaccinated, the faster we end Covid and the sooner everything returns to normal,” Delaney said in an interview with CNBC.com.Survey data shows a growing political divide about whether or not to take the vaccine, and Delaney told CNBC.com there has to be an incentive for “people to really accelerate their thinking about taking the vaccine.”Delaney pointed out that while his plan would not force anyone to get vaccinated, there are already measures in the U.S. to encourage vaccination, including for children to attend school.While his proposal seems enticing, it faces some big hurdles.Sending people ,500 checks in exchange for vaccination could cost upward of 0 billion. By comparison, the round of stimulus checks sent to Americans earlier this year totaled more than 0 billion so far.Coronavirus relief spending is a hot topic in Congress, as Democrats and Republicans try to compromise and make an agreement before the end of the year. Most Americans are planning a scaled back event.But 75% of people told Butterball they plan to have a turkey the same size this year, as last year.“If you're looking for a smaller turkey, I would recommend shopping early to get what you want,” said Andrea Balitewicz, Butterball Turkey Talk-Line Supervisor.While many people are looking for some normalcy this Thanksgiving, 30% are hosting immediate family only.Butterball says there will also be more first-time hosts.“But there's also other products available like our turkey breast roasts, which are perfect for just a couple of people, or you can find the bone in turkey breast and that's a really great product too, and it's some for about six to seven people. So, it's a great product for smaller celebrations.”Butterball is planning the same offerings as usual. About half its turkeys will be in the 10-16 pound range. The other half in the 16-24 pound range.Walmart says it will have 30% more turkey breasts for those that don't want to cook a whole bird, even though they will have plenty of those.Kroger bought more turkeys than usual. The battle over MCAS flight paths continues. For years, residents have expressed concerns about noise, pollution and potential crashes. Earlier this month, councilwoman Barbara Bry wrote a letter to MCAS asking pilots ot adhere to flight corridors that avoid direct traffic over University City. Neighbors in the area are still coping from the 2008 crash that killed four people when a jet went spiraling into two homes. "We’ve already had one accident in UC years ago," said Don Hoetz. "Right below that flight path and we just don’t want to see that happen again."MCAS released a statement to 10news, saying in part;"All aircraft routes, including departures over University City, depend on a myriad offactors including weather, other air traffic, and the flight characteristics of the aircraft. In all cases, aircraft use navigable airspace in a manner authorized by the FAA."Colonel Charles Dockery responded to councilwoman Bry's letter Thursday morning.
