Deputies in Florida say a worker fatally stabbed his Trump-supporting boss at a highway construction site and placed an American flag next to the body after they got into an argument. Mason Toney was charged with first-degree murder for the killing of William Knight on Monday. Co-workers told investigators with the Orange County Sheriff's Office that Toney and Knight were friends despite their political differences. The arrest affidavit says co-workers described Knight as “pro-Donald Trump," while co-workers described Toney as “anti-government." An arrest affidavit says Toney jumped in a truck and took off after the stabbing. He was apprehended several hours later.According to the 702
CHICAGO — From May to October, a team of people is working every day, even weekends, to look for dead birds on the ground in downtown Chicago.Annually, about 5,000 birds that are not native to the region are injured or killed after colliding into Chicago’s glassy reflective skyscrapers. The team looking for the birds is documenting what kind are coming though the city. The birds live in rain forests and wild areas and are not experienced with tall buildings, group members say. It’s a foreign environment for them, so they are easily hurt, says group member Annette Prince. The group aims to decrease the number of birds killed in the city and is pushing for more bird-friendly building designs throughout the nation. One suggestion the team has is to turn lights out at night.“We are No. 1 in the urban lighting we put out,” Prince said. Less glass helps with the problem, too.“It’s estimated that there are a billion birds a year killed in windows, with a huge concentrations in cities like Chicago,” she said. This is something the U.S. can fix, Prince said.“There are things you can do to make buildings safe, and to protect these birds that are so valuable to us,” she said. 1192

Comedian Louis C.K. is in hot water again, this time for seeming to make fun of survivors of the Parkland school shooting and their effort for stricter gun control. In the audio, reportedly from a recent comedy set, an audience is heard laughing as the comedian mocks the students for testifying before Congress."Testify in front of Congress, these kids, what the f***? What are you doing?" asks the man in the audio clip. "Cause you went to a high school where kids got shot, why does that mean I have to listen to you? Why does that make you interesting? You didn't get shot. You pushed some fat kid in the way and now I gotta listen to you talking?"Seventeen teens and adults were killed in the February 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. It's not clear exactly when or where the audio was recorded, or how it was publicly released. Clips of the audio starting popping up on social media over the weekend.CNN is trying to reach Louis C.K. for comment.Other controversiesJust last week, the comedian found himself under scrutiny after an old video surfaced which featured him using the N-word. Louis C.K. says the word in a 2011 video while joking around with fellow comedians Chris Rock and Ricky Gervais. And in November 2017, just as the #MeToo movement was gaining steam, five women came forward with allegations of sexual harassment and abuse against the comedian. Louis C.K. acknowledged the accusations were true and apologized."These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my (penis) without asking first, which is also true," he said in a statement obtained by CNN at the time. "But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your (penis) isn't a question. It's a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly."Louis C.K. went on to say that he is "remorseful" and has "tried to learn" from his irresponsible behavior.FX cut ties with him shortly afterward. He was the executive producer of several shows on the network, including "Better Things," "Baskets" and "Louie." Netflix also announced that it was scrapping plans for a stand-up special starring the comedian. 2333
DENVER -- When Peter Cushing turned to face the camera in Rogue One, Star Wars fans were as excited as they were confused. After all, the actor had died more than 20 years earlier, and yet, there was no mistaking him.For a major Hollywood movie, this is a clever trick. But not everyone is trying to entertain us, and you don't need a million-dollar budget to deceive."You take the face of one person and put it on the body of another," said Jeff Smith, associate director at the National Center for Media Forensics at the University of Colorado Denver. With the next U.S. presidential election looming, intelligence officials and leading researchers like Smith are warning of a different kind of fake news: doctored videos known as deepfakes."They are manipulated videos that have been edited using deep learning technology," Smith said.Deepfakes are essentially videos that use artificial intelligence and deep learning to make spoofs like 951
