On a lake in Bedford County, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency officer Darrell Bernd, who goes by the nickname "Bones," has formed an unlikely friendship with a wayward goose.While on duty in July, Bones found the goose tied up in fishing line, unable to get free. He freed the goose from the fishing line and brought it back to health. A co-worker gave the goose the name "Honk.""Thirty-four years ago I was hired out here just to mow grass," Bones said. "Now, here I am babysitting a goose."The best Bernd can tell, someone had Honk as a pet that imprinted on humans before the goose's owner turned it loose, unable to fend for itself in the wild.Ever since he rescued the goose, the two have been like birds of a feather, with Honk now following Bones around wherever he goes."I've actually had him following me for almost a mile," Bones said.Starting Wednesday, Goose has become Facebook famous, with his own page on the social media platform.As a wildlife expert, Bones is encouraging Honk to hang with his friends in the wild. Honk has begun spending more time with a flock of geese near Bedford Lake, sometimes gone for days at a time. Bones wants to get Honk used to the wild, so he can live on his own.But while Honk is still around, he and Bones are teaching us all something about what's good for the gander."Just a little act of kindness, that’s all it took," Bones said. Oceanside’s Flying Pig restaurant had a wait for tables last Friday.On the surface, that sounds like a dream scenario.But owner Roddy Browning says sales just didn't match the demand.“Our capacity is just cut so much, there's just no room for that heavyweight labor when you don't have the capacity,” he said.It's because of social distancing restrictions.Browning recently reopened The Flying Pig and his Vista restaurant - Town Hall Public House - with seating cut in about half.He's working his way back after having to layoff much of his staff when Coronavirus restrictions first took effect. In all Browning had about 60 employees at his two restaurants before COVID.Now, he's hired about 25.He says challenges go beyond the finances.Browning says he and other restaurant owners are having trouble filling jobs in the back of the house.And there have been isolated incidents where people have refused requests to wear masks - taking their money elsewhere.Browning says he wants people to understand why masks are required.As for surviving, Browning says he'll just have to make it work. 1099

Officials are looking for the suspect responsible for a deadly stabbing in Phoenix.Phoenix police responded to an alley near 15th and Missouri avenues at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a stabbing. Officers were alerted to the incident after a passerby called 911 about a man stumbling in the roadway. When officers arrived on the scene they found 58-year-old Alfred Brown with multiple stab wounds. He told officers the suspect, a younger Hispanic male, was heavy set and wearing a white shirt. According to police, Brown was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.Brown was a known homeless man who stayed in the area. He was last seen in the area earlier in the day with a Hispanic male who matches the suspect description.   789

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police in Oceanside are searching for an at-risk missing man last seen Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m.According to police, 92-year-old George Serenbetz was last seen on the 3500 block of Pear Blossom Drive around 2 p.m. Tuesday. Serenbetz is described as 6 feet tall with brown hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a blue, long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans. Police say he has knee problems and dementia. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or contact Oceanside Police. 534
