CUPERTINO, Calif. – Apple announced Tuesday that its first fitness experience built around Apple Watch is launching Monday, Dec. 14.The company says Apple Fitness+ will bring studio-style workouts to your iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, incorporating workout metrics from your Apple Watch.The Apple Watch integration will include onscreen animations during key moments during workouts to help users stay motivated.For example, when a trainer says to check your heart rate, those metrics are spotlighted. During tough intervals, a countdown timer starts to help users get through to the last second. And when they close their activity rings, a celebration happens right on the workout screen.The platform will launch with 10 popular workout types: high intensity interval training (HIIT), strength training, yoga, dance, core workouts, cycling, treadmill workouts, rowing, and mild cool downs.Apple says the workouts are led by welcoming trainers and users can enjoy inspiring music from top artists, designed to keep you motivated.Users can choose from nine different styles of music, including latest hits, chill vibes, upbeat anthems, pure dance, throwback hits, everything rock, Latin grooves, hip hop/R&B, and top country. They can also filter by music to find the right workout to fit their current mood.An Apple Music subscription is not required to enjoy the music in Fitness+, but for those who have one, favorite songs or an entire playlist from Fitness+ workouts can be downloaded to their Apple Music library to listen anytime.Fitness+ will be available as a subscription service for .99 or .99 per year. With many on unemployment losing almost two-thirds of their income now, there will be an even greater need in the city and beyond.“Our network of over 1,000 emergency food providers across 90 percent of the zip codes here in the city are really bracing themselves and making sure they are already bringing in enough resources,” Tisdale added.A study done by Feeding America shows 1 in 6 Americans could now struggle with hunger as a result of the financial hardships caused by the pandemic. City officials voted unanimously on Thursday to install two new rainbow-painted crosswalks to show support for the LGBTQ community in Phoenix. The vote was in response to interest by community groups after noting several other cities across the country have installed rainbow crosswalks as a symbol of inclusiveness with the LGBTQ community. "Phoenix values and embraces its LGBTQ brothers and sisters," Mayor Greg Stanton said. "Phoenix is committed to ensuring equal treatment and rights for everyone and showing our support because we know diversity makes us stronger."  The proposed rainbow crosswalks would be installed at two existing pedestrian crosswalks, located at Central Avenue and Portland Street, and the other at the crossing of 7th and Glenrosa avenues. The Phoenix Pride Community Foundation, one-n-ten, and Aunt Rita's Foundation have offered to cover the costs of materials, installation and ongoing maintenance for the rainbow-painted portions of the crosswalks that are not already maintained by the city. All three groups are non-profits that serve and assist LGBTQ individuals and the community."The City of Phoenix has always maxed out its score on the equality index.
