BUFFALO, N.Y. — The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has criticized grocery store chain Wegmans and several other chains for allegedly selling coconut milk made from fruit harvested by abused monkeys.According to PETA, monkeys are "forced to climb trees to pick coconuts" for coconut milk made by the brand Chaokoh. (KGTV) — Deputies are investigating a use of force incident Thursday after a suspect stopped breathing after being restrained for reportedly biting a deputy.San Diego Sheriff's deputies responded to a disturbance call at about 4:30 a.m. at the Circle K convenience store at Old Highway 395 and Highway 76.Upon arriving, deputies said they encountered a man behaving erratically. Deputies said they asked him several times to leave the property and he then swung at them, prompting an altercation.An SDSO detective said the suspect bit a deputy in the web of the hand, badly enough that the deputy has to get stitches.After biting the deputy, the man was placed in a full body restraint and loaded him into an ambulance, according to SDSO. No firearms were discharged.Officials say while the suspect was in paramedic's care, he stopped breathing. BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police are investigating a Friday night incident that left 54-year-old Jacquelyn Smith dead.At about 12:34 a.m., patrol officers were called to a Baltimore-area hospital for a report of a walk-in stabbing victim. When they got to the hospital, they found Smith with a stab wound to her chest.Despite the doctor’s efforts, she died.Investigators tell WMAR Smith and her family were driving in the 1000 block of Valley Street when they noticed a woman that looked to be about 20 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall and wearing a brown jacket. It looked like she was carrying a baby, or had something wrapped up to look like a baby, and was holding a cardboard sign that said, "Please help me feed my baby."Smith, who was in the passenger seat, rolled down her car window so that she could give the woman some money. At that moment, a man, about 30 years old and 6 feet tall with a goatee, approached the car to thank the family for the money.The male suspect then reached in to grab Smith's wallet, which is when a struggle began. Police say the man stabbed Smith in the torso before he and the female suspect that was holding the sign ran away."I'm not going to stop my car. You know, the way times are you don't know who to stop the car for," said Odella Taylor, a Baltimore resident."Think twice, look twice. BOULEVARD, Calif. (KGTV) — Firefighters worked quickly to douse flames from a brush fire along Interstate 8 in the East County Saturday.The Crestwood Fire ignited near Old Highway 80 at Tierra Del Sol Road, and grew to 32 acres, according to Cal Fire San Diego. Crews were able to hold the fire at Old Highway 80. As of 8:52 a.m., Cal Fire said crews said the fire was 45% contained.No structures were damaged or threatened, though six homes were evacuated. No injuries were reported.About 25 engines, eight hand crews, and two dozers were called out to the fire. A stretch of Old Highway 80 in the area and the number two lane of I-8 were closed, but have since reopened. 680
