Philadelphia 76ers president Bryan Colangelo appears to have used multiple Twitter accounts to criticize players and coaches on his own team and release sensitive team information, according to a lengthy report?from?The Ringer on Tuesday night.The Ringer believes the 52-year-old Colangelo, a longtime basketball executive who has also held jobs with the Phoenix Suns and the Toronto Raptors, may have used up to five fake Twitter accounts to criticize his team's own players — including 2018 NBA All-Star Joel Embiid — debate his own coaching staff's decisions and reveal confidential team information."In February, The Ringer received an anonymous tip that Bryan Colangelo ... had been secretly operating five Twitter accounts," The Ringer's Ben Detrick wrote. Detrick added The Ringer has since "scrutinized and archived those accounts in an attempt to verify the source's claims."Colangelo, the son of former Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks owner Jerry Colangelo, served as the Suns' general manager from 1995-2006 and was the 2005 NBA Executive of the Year. He resigned as Suns GM and became president and GM of the Toronto Raptors in 2006, two years after his father sold the Suns to current owner Robert Sarver. Colangelo went on to win the NBA Executive of the Year award with the Raptors in 2007.Colangelo was relieved of his role as Raptors GM in 2013 and soon resigned from his role as team president, as well. In 2016, he was hired as the 76ers' president of basketball operations.After The Ringer published its report, Colangelo admitted to operating one of the accounts but denied being behind the others."Like many of my colleagues in sports, I have used social media as a means to keep up with the news," Colangelo told The Ringer in a statement. "While I have never posted anything whatsoever on social media, I have used the @Phila1234567 Twitter account referenced in this story to monitor our industry and other current events. This storyline is disturbing to me on many levels, as I am not familiar with any of the other accounts that have been brought to my attention, nor do I know who is behind them or what their motives may be in using them."Embiid told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that Colangelo called him Tuesday night to deny the tweets were from him."Maybe there's an IT person who can prove it wasn't Bryan Colangelo, but here's one of his biggest problems in disputing Ringer story: Those tweets reflected not only private team (business), but launched personal beefs/jealousies/frustrations that he's shared inside and outside 76ers," Wojnarowski tweeted. PAUMA VALLEY (CNS) - Authorities Saturday identified a man suspected of ambushing three sheriff's deputies at his home in a rural area near Casino Pauma and sparking an hours-long standoff late Thursday.Jose Nieto, a 28-year-old Pauma Valley man, was arrested for three counts of attempted murder of a peace officer and three counts of assault of a peace officer with a firearm, San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Rich Williams said.Nieto was being held without bail, under guard at a local hospital while being treated for a gunshot wound he sustained during the standoff, and was expected to be arraigned this week.RELATED: Deputies shot at while responding to call in Pauma ValleyThe standoff began around 4:15 p.m. Thursday when deputies responded to a home in the 15600 block of Adams Drive in Pauma Valley after receiving a 911 call from a man who said he "needed help and didn't feel safe in his home." As three deputies approached the front door of the home, they were met with gunfire, Williams said.The deputies returned fire, established a perimeter around the home and called for backup, including a SWAT team.Nearby residents were evacuated from their homes and surrounding streets were shut down.Authorities spent hours trying to establish communication with the gunman, but when that was unsuccessful, the SWAT team entered the home and found the suspect inside with an apparent gunshot wound to his lower body, Williams said. PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. – The smiling Black chef that’s been on Cream of Wheat packaging for decades is being removed.In a statement obtained by USA Today and The New York Times, B&G Foods said that research indicates the image of the Black man may be based on an actual Chicago chef named Frank White, but it’s being removed because “it reminds some consumers of earlier depictions they find offensive.”The removal comes after the company initiated a review of the packaging in June. At that time, the business wrote that it’s committed to evaluating its packaging and would take steps to ensure it does not inadvertently contribute to racism."B&G Foods unequivocally stands against prejudice and injustice of any kind," wrote the company.It’s not immediately clear when customers can expect the Cream of Wheat packaging to be changed.The Times reports that the character on the box was once named “Rastus,” a pejorative term for Black men, and that he was once depicted as a barely literate cook who didn’t know what vitamins were.Cream of Wheat is the latest of several products which are being redesigned to remove racially insensitive imagery.Earlier this month, it was announced that Uncle Ben’s rice products would be renamed Ben’s Original and the image of Uncle Ben would be removed. In June, Quaker Oats said it would rename and rebrand Aunt Jemima pancake syrup. Parked on the corner of a Kenmore, Washington brewery is a bright orange food truck. It’s called The Vet Chef and inside is a former Marine with a passion for food.“The restaurant is a lot like the military,” said Chef Kyle Gourlie.“You have to do things at a certain time, follow the orders of the head chef,” said fellow veteran, Paul Welling, who worked at The Vet Chef for several years.Marine Corps Veteran Kyle Gourlie is used to following orders. “I did one tour to Ramadi, Iraq. I was a machine gunner on the top of a Humvee," he recalled. His orders look a little different these days, and he’s grateful for the new adventure. This food truck is the beginning of a new chapter, born from a love Gourlie’s had his entire life.“Aw man, I love food,” said Gourlie. “I could work a 14-hour day, wake up in the morning and start cooking food at my own house. It makes me happy. It’s my art, it’s everything to me.”The happiness he’s found now came after a long period of struggle and recovery.When Gourlie was deployed, an explosion almost killed him.“I peered over the top of my Humvee, and it was an IED. It blew me sideways. I broke my back in five places, my neck in three, and had a brain injury, but thankfully, I walked away with no scars,” recounted Gourlie.He spent two years healing, and even when he was physically ready to move on, Gourlie realized the transition to civilian life couldn’t happen overnight.“I’ve had morning routine to evening routine, every single day, planned out for me, order after order and that’s been my life. Now, I’m expected to do all this, and I don’t even know how to fill out a check, which was me, I had no concept of how to fill out a check. It’s scary," he said.It was his family who encouraged him to follow his passion into the kitchen and open The Vet Chef.“I was blessed I had a family and a wife because without them I would be lost.”But he didn’t want to stop there. Gourlie is making sure he’s hiring other vets to pay his good fortune forward.“A food truck, veteran-owned and operated that wanted to create this opportunity for other vets, and I’m like, ‘I could really get behind that’,” said Navy veteran Paul Welling.Even if their military careers made them friendly rivals, the bond Gourlie and his team share as service members is irreplaceable.“It’s been really nice to see people who have been on our truck build back into society, and I’m building with them, and it’s been wonderful,” said Gourlie.But working in this food truck is so much more than a job. Gourlie makes sure to pass on all of his culinary skills, so each of the veterans who come through here is prepared for a career for years to come.“We don’t always have that job that transitions in the civilian world, so you learn a lot of skills in the military, you can use those, but it doesn’t really give you a job path,” said Welling. “I think it’s great he wants to utilize those skills to maybe work on the food truck and maybe open up their own food truck and become masters of their own destiny.”And it’s not just professional skills these vets are learning. “Not every day is gonna be perfect,” said Welling. “One day, your generator’s going to go out in the middle of service, and I think that’s a good mantra for life: nothing is going to be perfect, but you try to help people and there’s always tomorrow.”Gourlie hopes tomorrow holds a future where this orange truck is a familiar sight across the country.“If we can ever get food trucks into vets’ hands and help them run their business, I think it’s gonna be wildly successful and get people back into society a whole lot better,” said Gourlie.It’s a mission this veteran will work tirelessly to accomplish because this comfort food feeds so much more than hunger.“They deserve every success they possibly could have because they’ve sacrificed so much,” said Gourlie. “It makes me feel blessed and honored to be a part of that.”If you'd like to learn more about The Vet Chef, click HERE. 3984
