PALA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The third woman who died in a Saturday morning bus crash in Pala Mesa has been identified as 23-year-old Cinthya Karely Rodriguez Banda. The San Diego County Medical Examiner says Banda died after being ejected from the bus. She was from Mexico. Monday, the two other women who died in the crash were identified. Maria De La Luz Diaz, 67 of Riverside, and Julia Perez Cornejo, 73 of Pasadena, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to information from the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.RELATED: Charter bus had a history of maintenance violationsThe women were among 21 passengers in a charter bus traveling from El Monte to Tijuana that crashed on rain-slicked southbound 15 near State Route 76 around 10:25 a.m. Saturday. CHP said Monday night that the boy was in stable condition and is expected to recover. Police departments across the country have been getting more diverse, but there are conversations happening now about further improving diversity in new officer hiring.A new analysis from The Washington Post finds many major police forces are still whiter than the communities they serve.For example, in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, 49% of residents are racial minorities, but 83% of officers are white. And in Philadelphia, 77% of the population is non-white, but 59% of officers are white.University of Maryland criminal justice professor Maria Velez has been researching the impact of this as it relates to crime.“In communities that are predominantly African American, as percentage black goes up in a neighborhood, that's often been thought of as a risk factor for violent crime, but what we find is that in cities where there is, representation in terms of the city council, having a black mayor, having a civilian review board, having prior levels of unrest actually renders that relationship insignificant,” said Velez.She says when cities have more minorities on their police force, that signals accountability and receptiveness. OTAY MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A 72-year-old man died Friday night after being struck by a semi-truck trailer. San Diego police say the man had pulled off the 905 freeway at La Media Dr. to fix a broken spark plug on his 1980 Honda motorcycle. He was working on the bike when the big rig exited the 905 onto La Media heading east. The driver missed the motorcyclist with the cab but clipped him with the back tires of the trailer, dragging the body for several feet according to investigators. The man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the semi-truck stopped at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Police say he could face a misdemeanor charge of involuntary manslaughter. 744

PARK COUNTY, Colo. — A California church leader was identified as a man found dead off Guanella Pass, Colorado, in 1974, officials announced on Tuesday.Anthony John Armbrust, who led a metaphysical church and was also an aeronautical engineer, was 45 when he and his wife went missing, according to David Kintz, the Park County coroner.Kintz said Armbrust's death was likely a suicide. His remains were first discovered in February 1974, but the case went cold.After identifying Armbrust through forensic genetic genealogy, investigators learned that Armbrust had been suffering from a terminal illness and that he and his wife, Renee, had moved from the San Diego, Calif., area to Golden, Colorado, near Denver.Armbrust then sent his church members a letter, asking them to come collect he and his wife's belongings from their Golden apartment. The couple was not seen again.Renee Armbrust's remains have not been found.Kintz said Anthony Armbrust died from multiple blunt force injuries, likely from an intentional jump or from a fall while climbing to make a jump.Armbrust's remains were found off Guanella Pass near Grant in an area with steep, treacherous terrain, Kintz said.Kintz's office began using forensic genealogy in the case in 2019 and contacted the DNA Doe Project, a group that works to identify unidentified people through DNA research.The investigators eventually traced DNA from Armbrust's remains to a relative, who helped them make a final identification.This story originally reported by Ryan Osborne on TheDenverChannel.com. 1556
