One of the most entertaining World Series of all time is going the distance. The Los Angeles Dodgers have forced a decisive Game 7, winning Game 6 at home 3-1 against the Houston Astros on Tuesday night."I think it seems fitting," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said about this series needing all seven games. "You've got the two best teams in baseball going head to head. Like we've talked about from the beginning, these two teams mirror one another. And the compete and fight in both teams is the most important thing I see as similarities. But, again, we worked all year long to have home-field advantage, and here we are. It's only fitting for this series, yeah."Justin Verlander, acquired by Houston for a deep postseason run, was dominant through the first five innings. He had a 1-0 lead thanks to a solo home run by Astros leadoff hitter George Springer in the top of the third off Dodgers starter Rich Hill. It was Springer's fourth home run in this World Series, making him the only other leadoff hitter aside from Lenny Dykstra (1993) to accomplish that feat. But the Dodgers got to Verlander, the former Detroit Tigers ace, in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double by Chris Taylor and an RBI sacrifice fly by Corey Seager.Joc Pederson added a solo home run off Astros reliever Joe Musgrove in the bottom of the seventh. It's Pederson's third home run of the World Series.Verlander went six innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out nine.Hill lasted 4 2/3 innings, giving up the one run, one intentional walk and four hits on 58 pitches. He struck out five. The Astros have never won a World Series in their completed 55 seasons. Only the Cleveland Indians (69 years) and Texas Rangers (57 years) have had longer current championship droughts than Houston. The Dodgers last won the Fall Classic in 1988.This marks the 39th time in a best-of-seven World Series that the Fall Classic has extended to a final game (including 1912, when eight games were played following a Game 2 tie). The Dodgers will attempt to become the 21st team to come back from down 3-2 in the Fall Classic under the current seven-game format.Of the 40 times that a team leading 3-2 has dropped Game 6, it has gone on to win the series 18 times, which is 45%. Ten of the last 12 teams to lose Game 6 with a 3-2 lead went on to lose the series. The last three teams with a 3-2 lead to lose Game 6 and win the series were the 2014 Giants, the 1997 Marlins and the 1975 Reds. This year's Fall Classic has been full of power -- these teams set the record for most home runs in a single World Series with 24 so far -- and dramatic comebacks. Game 5 was the craziest of all, ending with a 13-12 Astros walk-off win in the 10th inning."This series has been back and forth," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday after Game 6. "And two incredible teams, trying to get to the finish line. And so now, now obviously it's good for our sport. Necessarily bad for us, because we wanted to win tonight. We'll get back to the hotel, where we'll collect ourselves. Both teams will be ready to play with about as much energy as you could possibly imagine in Game 7."First pitch for Game 7 is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:20 p.m. ET. Yu Darvish will start for Los Angeles. In Game 3, he lasted just 1 and 2/3 innings, the shortest outing of his major league career. Lance McCullers Jr. will start for Houston. 3395

OCEANSIDE (KGTV) -- The beach may still be Oceanside’s biggest draw, but increasingly, people are coming for the beer. With seven breweries, several tap rooms and San Diego’s first meadery, Oceanside is earning a reputation among those looking for a pint.“They’ve brought a really interesting liveliness to Oceanside,” said the city’s economic development manager, Michelle Geller.Geller estimates Oceanside’s beer businesses have created 50 to 75 jobs, along with other economic benefits.LIFE IN OCEANSIDE:From 'Ocean Side' to region's third-largest city5 places to spend the day in Oceanside“It tends to give way to businesses that want to have their offices in the downtown,” she said. “Employees just like that creative culture of craft beer.”The oldest active brewery in Oceanside is Breakwater Brewing, the first to take up residence along Coast Highway. It opened in 2008 during the teeth of the Great Recession, when downtown had a different feel.“Lot of crime,” said co-owner Shannon Sager. “We had people grabbing money. Our tip jar had like in it once, people ran in, grabbed it and ran out. We started gluing it to the table. That doesn’t happen anymore.”As the downtown landscape shifted, more breweries opened nearby.“The next thing you know, it started taking off,” Sager said.Bagby Beer Company, Belching Beaver, Legacy Brewing, Northern Pine Brewing, Oceanside Brewing Company and Golden Coast Mead now round out Oceanside’s craft scene. The city’s first brewery, Oceanside Ale Works, closed in 2018 amid an internal dispute, but Geller said two more breweries are expected to open soon. 1614

One of the largest addiction treatment companies in the country is on the hook for millions of dollars after a jury found it partly liable for the death of a California man.Shaun Reyna killed himself less than a day after checking into a treatment facility in Murrieta.“Shaun Reyna is a good man,” said attorney Jude Basile. In an interview with 10News, Basile said Reyna was losing his eyesight after 20 years working in a factory. He eventually lost his job, and depression led to drinking and self-medication.Reyna and his family decided treatment was the best option. He ended up going to a spot called A Better Tomorrow in Murrieta, which is part of the parent company American Addiction Centers. The location was more than 300 miles from his home in Atwater.Basile said less than a day after Reyna was admitted, "He was found dead due to self-inflicted cuts and bled to death."In February, a jury awarded the family a million verdict against American Addiction Centers and other defendants. The jury found them negligent.Court documents claimed “Decedent should have never of been admitted into ABTTC (A Better Tomorrow Treatment Center) DEFENDANTS program, and instead should have been referred to a facility/program that could provide the level of services he needed. ABTTC DEFENDANTS admitted Decedent Shaun Reyna knowing they could not provide the level of service he needed. They did so out of pure greed, putting profit ahead of patient safety.”According to a news release from the law firm representing the Reyna family, evidence revealed a call center that was staffed by people with little to no experience in addiction screening."When they called the call center they would be met with folks at the intake call center that were being paid on commission, that had quotas, and whose job was simply to sell, not to properly screen, but to sell,” said Reyna family attorney Jeremiah Lowe.In one of the recorded calls between Reyna and a treatment center representative you can hear the desperation in Reyna's voice.“Yeah, I have to do something," Reyna said. “Because I can't -- I feel like I can't hold on any longer.” A representative on the other end told him he understood. “I get it. We're reaching crisis mode, and if -- you need to get into a safe environment.”An addiction specialist who testified as an expert for the Reyna family told 10News the first thing the treatment center should have done was referred Reyna to a higher level of care than they were providing."The complications that can result if it’s not treated properly are seizures, strokes, hallucinations, confusion and things like what happened in this case with depression and suicide and they also required very close observation,” said Dr. Michel Sucher. The head of American Addiction Centers, Michael Cartwright, spoke to Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin by phone. Cartwright said he disagrees with the verdict. He believes Reyna's treatment location was appropriate. A spokesperson for American Addiction Centers directed 10News to a Yahoo Finance article on the technological advancements being implemented in its treatment centers. While Reyna's case is extreme, it's not the first time the company has faced criticism.10News’ sister station in Tampa, Fla., exposed questionable practices with the company's River Oaks Treatment facility. WFTS reported the facility's “former transportation director Mike Isom says staff was often unprepared to deal with mental health issues."  Crisis in CaliforniaAccording to the California Opioid Overdose Surveillance Dashboard, 2,031 people died of an opioid overdose in 2016 in California. Of those deaths, 251 occurred in San Diego County. With the opioid epidemic reaching crisis level, addiction treatment centers are in high demand. However, in California, there's concern the lack of supply to meet that demand has allowed for some to take advantage of people in need.According to information provided by the California Department of Health Care Services, in the 2016-17 fiscal year, there were 540 complaints against addiction treatment centers statewide. That's up from years past. There were also 36 people who died while participating in addiction rehab facilities statewide in 2017-18.Experts tell 10News there are also more people checking in to treatment facilities."When you look at that compared to the 300 plus thousand people who were treated in those facilities you see that is drastically lower than one percent and I will stack up our industry's results with any hospital system in California,” said Stampp Corbin with the Addiction Treatment Advocacy Coalition.Corbin said there are more than 1,700 treatment facilities in California. He told 10News that because there is an opioid crisis, people need access to treatment and the vast majority of facilities are helping people and saving lives.Corbin said, just as you would check your doctor's qualifications, potential patients should ask for the information about who will be providing their treatment. He suggests asking what the treatment process is and for people to check with the California Department of Health Care Services, which tracks any adverse incident."I don't think people should be worried about treatment centers any more than they are worried about hospital systems,” Corbin said.Reyna’s attorney believes the treatment center industry is needed, but needs better enforcement."We have good regulations that if they are enforced would clean up a lot of the industry,” Lowe said. ‘The problem is right now those regulations aren't being effectively enforced." 5797

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Georgia woman who ran in the 10th Anniversary Disney Princess Half Marathon over the weekend says she lost a cross pendant necklace filled with her daughter's ashes on Sunday.Chasity Foster, a teacher from Augusta, Georgia, lost her 17-year-old daughter, Shaylin, in a car crash on her way to school last month. Shaylin was a high school senior who had been accepted into college to become a biomechanical engineer with the dream of creating prosthetics for children. Before the tragic accident, Foster said the two used to run several marathons together; including the Disney marathon."She was a very fast runner. She was involved in soccer, cross country and track," Foster told Digital Producer Veronica Beltran over the phone. Foster said this year they had signed up for the Disney Fairy Tale Challenge, previously known as the Glass Slipper challenge, — which involves a 19.3 mile magical adventure in two days including the Disney Princess Enchanted 10K and the 10th Anniversary Disney Princess Half Marathon. She said after last month's accident she was unsure about participating in the race. After Wesley Baker, Shaylin's best friend, asked his mom, "what if Shaylin would have wanted us to?" she knew they would in fact be heading to Florida for the race to run in her honor.Foster said her husband, Chris, ran in Shaylin's place and even wore her Princess Anna costume. During Sunday's marathon, Foster says she was hesitant to wear the cross pendant necklace with Shaylin's ashes because it means so much to her but she wanted her daughter to be there with her as she ran even if she wasn't there physically."I had my husband double check to make sure the necklace was on properly because I didn't want it to fall off," Foster said. "During mile three, I realized the necklace was missing. It's devastating to lose any child and then to lose the necklace I started freaking out."She said she was still wearing the necklace when they were in front of the Magic Kingdom parking lot entrance. A short distance later, near the princesses, is when she realized it was gone. She went to look for it with her family and friends, but wasn't able to find it before heading back to Georgia."To lose this necklace is just devastating and priceless. No amount of money in the world could replace this necklace," she said.Foster said the necklace matches her daughter's promise ring — which her father gave her at her 16th birthday — and has her name engraved in the back."If anyone finds the necklace they can contact me in any way possible that they can," Foster said. "I will even drive to their house because this [the necklace] is part of my baby."If you find the priceless necklace, you can contact Foster at ChasFoster7@gmail.com or her Facebook page or even turn it in to Disney's lost and found. 2923
