President Donald Trump once again took to Twitter on Sunday to call on Robert Mueller to "STOP" with an investigation into possible collusion between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and the Russians.While Trump has frequently called the investigation a "witch hunt," and asserts that the investigation hasn't found any collusion, a point Mueller's team can or cannot confirm, Trump is calling on the Department of Justice to investigate itself. Trump tweeted, "I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes - and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!"Earlier in the week, the New York Times reported that the FBI used an informant who began making contact with the Trump campaign during the 2016 election cycle. The informant contacted two members of the Trump campaign after the FBI gathered evidence linking two Trump staffers had suspicious contacts linked to Russia during the campaign. After the story was published, Trump claimed that this was evidence that the FBI was spying on his campaign for political purposes.Trump on Sunday also made false and misleading claims that former election rival Hillary Clinton directly cashed in as secretary of state. Trump claimed Clinton made 5 million from Uranium One, but more than 0 million was given to Clinton's charitable fund well before she was named President Barack Obama's secretary of state. Trump continued to question why there is no longer an investigation into Clinton's dealings with Uranium One, or why the email server case has not been reopened since 2016 after then FBI Director James Comey found no criminal wrongdoing.  1850

President Donald Trump is urging the Republican-run Senate to consider “without delay” his upcoming nomination to fill the Supreme Court seat vacated by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg just six weeks before the election. Trump is making his view known in a tweet Saturday, the day after Ginsburg died. Bush, has sometimes been a swing vote, siding with the liberals.But one person who is opposing a last-minute appointment to the bench was apparently Ginsburg herself.Dictating a statement to family that was released to NPR, Ginsburg said, “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”In 2016, conservative Justice Antonin Scalia's death came nine months before the presidential election, and became a focal point of that year's election. President Barack Obama attempted to fill the seat, but Republicans in the Senate blocked the appointment.Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer reminded Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Friday of that fact.“The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president,” Schumer tweeted, which were the exact words used by McConnell in 2016.On Friday, McConnell confirmed that a potential nominee would get a vote in the Senate, but there are questions on whether a potential nominee would have enough support to be confirmed."President Trump’s nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate," McConnell said.McConnell said this situation is different because Republicans control the White House."Americans reelected our majority in 2016 and expanded it in 2018 because we pledged to work with President Trump and support his agenda, particularly his outstanding appointments to the federal judiciary. Once again, we will keep our promise," McConnell said.Just last week, Trump released a list of potential Supreme Court nominees. That list can be seen here.Joe Biden agreed with Schumer."The voters should pick a President, and that President should select a successor to Justice Ginsburg," Biden said. "This was the position that the Republican Senate took in 2016, when there were nearly nine months before the election. That is the position the United States Senate must take now, when the election is less than two months away. We are talking about the Constitution and the Supreme Court. That institution should not be subject to politics."HOW A SUPREME COURT JUSTICE IS CONFIRMED- The president nominates a replacement to be vetted by the Supreme Court.- After vetting the nominee, the Senate may take a vote to accept the nomination. The vote nomination must have 51 votes in order to pass. If there is a tie, the vice president can vote to break a tie.- There are 53 Republicans in the US Senate. It would take four Republicans to vote in opposition in order for a potential nominee not to be approved. 3663

(KGTV) -- Some North County students of color are sharing their experiences of racism anonymously in an Instagram page called "Black in PUSD."The social media account is described as "a safe space for current and graduated students in Poway Unified School District to anonymously share their experiences with racism.""We were originally inspired to start this during the Black Lives Matter movement, we thought it was a good idea to showcase the black experience in our community," said one of the page creators. The creators want to remain anonymous so they aren't targeted, but they shared with ABC 10News their encounters with racism."A girl once told me her father interrogated her after seeing us walking together, and he asked her who I was, why she was speaking to me, and if she was safe," one person on the page said.The page has more than 3,600 followers and dozens of posts. But the creators want to do more than bring awareness."In bringing awareness to these issues, we can create a more inclusive environment through better education," the creators said. "And just overall changing up the curriculum, so students understand the history of what people of color had had to face."In addition, they said they wanted to see more diversity in the staff and faculty. On Thursday, the school board is set to vote on an anti-racism resolution, something the district says was already in the works."In it, there's a commitment from PUSD to have more diverse staffing, increases expanded anti-bias training not just for students but all staff," said Christine Paik, chief communications officer at Poway Unified.Paik also encourages students to report incidents involving staff or peers."That way, we can actually follow up, investigate and get back to the complainant in terms of what we were able to do," she said. 1841

  

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Bundled up and armed with long lenses, an intimate crowd of naturalists, rehabbers and bird enthusiasts gathered in Virginia on Election Day, ready for a glimpse at America's national symbol."It has been the national symbol since the 1780s, but it hasn't always been treated with much respect," said Ed Clark, President of The Wildlife Center of Virginia.The eagle, which made his way to the Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve in Portsmouth Tuesday, is a solid 8 pounds, has a 6-foot wing span and is being labeled majestic and mysterious."They really are the flagship species of the natural world and we almost lost them," said Clark.This regal eagle found himself in a scuffle in Suffolk in August with another bird, but was thankfully rescued by a private citizen."Fights are pretty benign but this one banged up and he had soft tissue injuries," Clark said.The beautiful bald eagle has been undergoing treatment at the Wildlife Center of Virginia for the past two months."We are delighted to return him to the area in which he came from and give him another chance," said Clark.Clark says bald eagles are no longer on the endangered species list, and went on to note that there are more than 2,000 pairs in the commonwealth and more than 1,500 nests in the Tidewater region."The bald eagle is one of the greatest conservation success stories we have in North America," he said.The icon is a symbol of courage, strength and freedom, taking the popular vote with eager onlookers."Alright everybody, one, two, three," shouted Clark before launching the bird over Lake Ballard."To be able to send him back to wild lets us be comforted no matter how divided we are as a people or polarized, we are all American's, " said Clark.This story was originally published by Chelsea Donovan at WKTR. 1812
