KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri lawmakers advanced a bill Wednesday, that would allow concealed carry in churches, daycares and bars, among other locations.House Bill 1936 extends the list of places where gun owners can carry a concealed weapon — whether they have a permit or not."The definition of a criminal is someone who doesn't follow the law. We should be giving an individual the ability to protect themselves in any situation," said state Rep. Jered Taylor, a Republican from Nixa.This is the second year Taylor has introduced this bill.Currently, in Missouri, there are 17 locations where concealed carry is not allowed. Taylor's bill would narrow that list.If passed, the bill would allow concealed carry at amusement parks, casinos, child care facilities, churches, hospitals, stadiums, polling locations and local government buildings, including public universities and colleges."You cannot carry into those locations unless you have express permission from the property owner. What I am trying to do is leave it up to the property owner and let them decide what they want to allow and not allow," said Taylor.To opt out, private businesses would have to post signs prohibiting guns. Government buildings and public universities would not have that option."When I think about gun violence in KC and the legislation that is happening in Jefferson City, there is a huge disconnect," said AdHoc president Damon Daniel.Based on his experiences helping victims of crime, Daniel said he does not believe guns are the solution. In fact, hours before a committee passed HB 1936, he joined the Jackson County prosecutor in announcing a new service to help innocent bystanders of crimes."That's just not the solution. JULIAN, Calif., (KGTV)-- Thousands of people took advantage of the first significant snowfall of the season by making the trip to Julian. While the locals invite visitors to enjoy their small mountain town, they say some of them trash the place before they head back down the mountain. For 4-year-old Frankie Miller, playing in the snow is a special treat. "It's a holiday weekend! What better thing to do than drive to Julian and eat pie?" Frankie's mother, Karine Breed, said. Her family came to Julian to get a jump on the holiday season. So did thousands of others. "Sunrise highway was closed, but we were stubborn. We came up to 79. And we are finally here!" Kristian Roque said. The roads coming into Julian were shut down due to the heavy snow on Friday. "Everybody here comes to Julian happy and smiling," Boettcher said. "And we like to keep it that way." Boettcher is a 30-year Julian resident, who has been assisting the San Diego Sheriff's Department as a Volunteer Foot Patroller for the last fifteen years.It's important to have fun, but residents remind visitors to be respectful of their small mountain town, and the people who call it home. That is why they say they make sure to leave Julian, cleaner than when they came. "Obviously, you have those hooligans, so hopefully they just are respectful and considerate of the people who live here and clean up after themselves," Breed said. KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City FBI agent who rushed to help survivors at the Pentagon on 9/11 died Thursday from brain cancer.Melissa S. Morrow, 48, died after a long battle with the disease. Morrow was certified by The World Trade Center Health Program and the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, and as a result of her actions on 9/11, her death is classified as a line of duty death.Morrow was working in the FBI’s Washington Field Office at the time of the attack.When the plane hit the Pentagon, Morrow, who was 31 at the time, responded to the crash site and spent the next 10 weeks there and at an evidence warehouse. During those 10 weeks, Morrow was exposed to hazardous contaminants.Les Kerry, Team Leader of the Missouri Law Enforcement Funeral Assistance Team, said that Special Agent Morrow’s death is a chilling reminder that the 9/11 tragedy continues to take lives. “Just an average citizen who didn’t know her, it’s going to bring back some memories of where you were that day of the tragedy and the travesty that took place on 911 and the days and months to follow,” said Kerry.  Morrow served in the Kansas City office from 2010 to 2018.She will be given a hero’s burial with bagpipes playing taps, a 21 gun salute, and a flyover. Morrow is survived by her mother, father and sister.Visitation is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri. LA JOLLA (CNS) - A woman's body was found Sunday on the shoreline below cliffs in La Jolla, police said.At 6:40 a.m., someone found the body about 75 feet below the cliffs near Coast Walk, north of Torrey Pines Road, according to Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department.Lifeguards recovered the body, which was taken with a Jet Ski to La Jolla Shores, where they met with officials from the county Medical Examiner's Office.There was no additional information on the victim, Martinez said. 514
