Taylor Swift?is helping a fan of hers in need. The singer donated ,500 to a GoFundMe page that is raising money for the family of a mother, Lauriann Bartell, who has been in a coma for the past three years.Bartell's 19-year-old daughter, Sadie Bartell, tweeted a link to the GoFundMe page and said that her mother went into a coma two days before she went to see Swift in concert. "Hey guys. I'm really nervous to post this. Please help if you can and pray for my family. I'm sorry I never said anything sooner and that I'm suddenly asking for help. I love you guys so much," she wrote in a message she posted with the tweet. She added, "I'm grateful to Taylor for keeping me afloat through it all."Swift made the donation to the online platform over the weekend with the message, "Love, Taylor, Meredith and Olivia Swift." Meredith and Olivia are her two cats.Bartell took to Twitter after Swift's donation and posted a message in disbelief. "Taylor really actually donated to me and followed me and liked my thank you to her like that actually happened it's my life it's real," she tweeted. She went on to post a more lengthy message on Facebook, "Everyone who knows me knows that Taylor Swift is my whole entire life. She has been there for me more than anyone. I really, truly, would not be who I am without her. Today she read my family's story online and out of the goodness of her heart donated to us. She shows up every time I need her. She always has and she always will. I wish that I could express how much it means to me that ANYONE has helped my family over the years, let alone Taylor."Bartell added, "She is the light at the end of the tunnel and is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me. I will never be able to comprehend this. She is a miracle in herself. She just gave my family exactly what we need to carry on. This sounds so composed and so collected but in reality I've been crying for hours and my hands are shaking so hard I can barely type this. Taylor Swift, I love you more than I could ever say. Thank you for this. And for everything else. Forever on your side and thanks for being on mine."CNN has reached out to Swift's representative for comment. 2204

TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida mother has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a Tampa gas station after she claims the station's market sold her son "defective capsules" of kratom, which led to his death.Laura Lamon filed the wrongful death lawsuit filed against Sligh Petrol Mart operated by Anjiya C- Store Inc., on May 18 for selling her 27-year-old son Christopher Waldron the herbal supplement capsules.Lamon is suing Sligh Petrol Mart for negligence. Count three of the filing claims that Slight Petrol Mart displayed “the capsules next to over-the-counter oral medications and selling the capsules as a product taken orally when the capsules were not safe to orally ingest.” The lawsuit LAO alleges that “Sligh Petrol Mart failed to provide its customers, including Mr. Waldron with any reasonable warnings or instructions or with the capsules. The failure to provide a reasonable warning or instructions made the capsules unreasonably dangerous.”Waldron died on July 7, 2017 from what the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office autopsy report says was “intoxication by Mitragynine (kratom)."The toxicology report shows that Waldron’s levels for Mitragynine were 1.8 mg/L — levels that are considered extremely high.According to Associated Medical Examiner Leszek Chrostowsk, if Waldron didn't take kratom, he'd be alive today.Lamon said her son struggled with an addiction to prescription painkillers for more than a decade. When she got the phone call from Tampa Police that her son might have died from an overdose; she assumed it was from a prescription painkiller.“I was shocked, I thought it would for sure be opiates, for sure. I had no idea about this,” Lamon said.  According to Lamon, the capsules Waldron took before he died were labeled "Optimized Plant Meditated Solutions (O.P.M.S.) Gold." The front of the packet identifies the supplement as Mitragyna Speciosa Botanical Extract. The back of the package says the product contains Mitragyna Speciosa Leaf Extract and that it contains 60mg of Mitragynine. There are no instructions on the packet, just a warning that claims the pills are “only for use as a botanical specimen. Manufacturer of this product takes no responsibility for the misuse of this product.” The packet also contains a link to O.P.M.S. website for another disclaimer."If it were properly labeled than he would've had a chance, you know, to say OK I shouldn’t take this amount,” Lamon said. “Again, I don't know how much he took, but it was enough to kill him.” 2611

Surveys suggest a growing number of Americans are willing to get a COVID-19 vaccine, however the latest numbers from Gallup in mid-November show only 58 percent of those surveyed would get the vaccine.A former lawmaker is among those suggesting giving people a stimulus check in exchange for getting a COVID-19 vaccine.During an interview with CNBC, former Maryland Representative John Delaney suggested giving ,500 for getting immunized.“The faster we get 75 percent of this country vaccinated, the faster we end Covid and the sooner everything returns to normal,” Delaney said in an interview with CNBC.com.Survey data shows a growing political divide about whether or not to take the vaccine, and Delaney told CNBC.com there has to be an incentive for “people to really accelerate their thinking about taking the vaccine.”Delaney pointed out that while his plan would not force anyone to get vaccinated, there are already measures in the U.S. to encourage vaccination, including for children to attend school. While his proposal seems enticing, it faces some big hurdles.Sending people ,500 checks in exchange for vaccination could cost upward of 0 billion. By comparison, the round of stimulus checks sent to Americans earlier this year totaled more than 0 billion so far.Coronavirus relief spending is a hot topic in Congress, as Democrats and Republicans try to compromise and make an agreement before the end of the year. Democrats are backing a 0 billion starting point, while Republicans in the Senate say they want closer to 0 billion.Delaney said the checks don’t have to be ,500. He said the point is to create an incentive to increase how many people get vaccinated, because, in his opinion, once more people get vaccinated, “everything returns to normal, which means we don’t need any more programs (that Congress would create).”Delaney’s proposal comes following another similar idea from Robert Litan, a fellow at the Brookings Institute and was formerly in the Clinton administration. He has a proposal that would pay Americans ,000 to get vaccinated, a portion upfront, and another portion once a 70 percent vaccination threshold is reached. Health experts believe a 70 percent threshold is needed to help with herd immunity, and help protect those who are unable to be vaccinated."Unlike previous payments, this is stimulus tied to socially responsible behavior. So society is getting a benefit from handing out the money," Litan told Business Insider.A former top economic advisor to George W. Bush, N. Gregory Mankiw, has come out publicly in support of the idea, according to Business Insider.Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang tweeted his support of the idea. 2716

TEMECULA, Calif. (KGTV) - A three-alarm fire injured two people and prompted the evacuation of Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula Monday. The fire broke out in an elevator shaft in the main resort complex just after 11 a.m., Riverside County Fire Department officials said. Pechanga spokeswoman Ciara Green told City News Service that the flames were confined to an elevator portal "in the original tower," which underwent a major expansion two years ago. One person suffered from burns and another suffered smoke inhalation. The burn victim was taken to Temecula Valley Hospital in stable condition, according to reports from the scene. "Out of an abundance of caution, team members and guests in the hotel tower were evacuated," Green said. "The incident was not near the casino." The fire was contained by 1 p.m. The cause of the flames is unknown. City News Service contributed to this report. 905
