Students in at the Arizona College Prepatory Academy will walk out of class Wednesday to show their support for the Second Amendment.The event is called Stand for the Second and is happening in at least 39 other states across the U.S.The walkout comes after students around the country staged a walkout aimed at stopping gun violence and honoring the students killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. In February, protesters nationwide left their classrooms and remained outside for 17 minutes to honor the 17 people gunned down.Will Riley, an 18 year old from New Mexico, started this event to support the lives saved by firearms.“Every year an estimated 1.5 million Americans use a firearm to defend themselves,” Riley said. “During a 16-minute walkout, that breaks down to 91 American lives saved during the walkout. Texas Democrat Beto O'Rourke is trailing in the polls in his race to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, but his effort is raising an unprecedented amount of money.O'Rourke's Senate campaign announced Friday a record-smashing third quarter fundraising haul of .1 million. It's the most ever raised in a quarter by a US Senate campaign.O'Rourke's campaign has obliterated fundraising records throughout the race, even as polls have consistently shown Cruz with a comfortable lead in the high-profile Senate contest. Last quarter, O'Rourke made headlines with what was then a record-breaking haul of .4 million.Cruz's campaign had an impressive third quarter itself, raising in million between July and the end of September. Neither campaign has yet announced their cash-on-hand total at the end of the third quarter, though O'Rourke led Cruz by over million at the end of the second quarter.The O'Rourke campaign, which has rejected PAC money, announced that the .1 million haul was "powered by 802,836 individual contributions," and said that the "majority of the fundraising c[ame] from Texas.""The people of Texas in all 254 counties are proving that when we reject PACs and come together not as Republicans or Democrats but as Texans and Americans, there's no stopping us," O'Rourke said in a statement. The battle over the sale of the Confederate flag at the Lorain County Fair reached yet another peak after a vandal posted a Confederate flag on a billboard protesting its sale.The billboard is one of three purchased by the Fair Minded Coalition of Lorain County which urges residents to "say no" to the sale of the Confederate flag at the fair. Coalition member Jeanine Donaldson said she believes someone posting the flag on a coalition billboard is further proof of how it divides a community."To my family and other African-Americans it symbolizes hate, torture and terror," Donaldson said. "It's a right and wrong situation in the year 2018.""No less than Governor John Kasich was the one who recommended that the flag come down for the state fair, and he did it because it was the right thing to do," she saidLorain City Councilman Angel Arroyo said the Lorain County Fair Board needs to finally ban the sale of the Confederate flag because it doesn't represent Ohio or his community."It's a sign of ignorance and hatred of people in our community," Arroyo said."It's frustrating putting this flag on the billboard.  It's a sign of disrespect and truly shows the true colors of racism and hatred."But Lorain County Fair Board President Kim Meyers says the Confederate flag has been sold at the fair for 30 years. Currently, it's being sold by one vendor who is selling the flag as part of a wide variety of Civil War memorabilia.Meyers said to restrict the sale of the flag would be a violation of First Amendment rights."Here at the fair, probably 99 percent of the feedback that we received has been in favor of the fair allowing for the sale," Meyers said."The Ohio Fair Managers conference back in 2016 voted unanimously, there were 88 counties and seven independent fairs, that voted to allow the sale of that."Still, Donaldson said her group will continue to protest, and said more efforts to stop the sale of the Confederate flag at the fair will be unveiled in the coming months."We're not going away," Donaldson said."This is not about politics, it's just the right thing to do."    2159

Telecommunications company AT&T told its customers on Wednesday evening that they may need to restart their device in order to regain cellular service following a massive service outage. According to the outage tracker Down Detector, a sudden spike in AT&T outages were reported around 6 p.m. ET. Thousands of customers were reporting that their AT&T cellphone service was out. "If you've experienced an issue when making wireless calls, please restart your device, this might be required multiple times- that should resolve the issue," AT&T said on its Twitter page. AT&T said in a statement that it is aware of the outage."We are aware of an issue affecting some users ability to make certain wireless calls. These users should restart their devices, which should resolve the issue," the company said.By 9:30 p.m., outage numbers were returning to normal levels, according to Down Detector.Some customers said that restarting their device did not solve the issue.   1030
