WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has responded to the investigation into Breonna Taylor's death and the shooting of two Louisville police officers Wednesday night. In a speech on the Senate floor Thursday, McConnell says Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron "conducted exactly the kind of thorough, impartial investigation that justice demands."McConnell also addressed protests in Louisville following the decision as "more of the lawlessness, riots, and violence that has plagued American cities too often this year."Read his full speech on the Senate floor below:"I've spoken repeatedly in recent months about the tragic killing of Breonna Taylor in my hometown of Louisville, the need for justice, and the healing work ahead for our community."Kentucky's Attorney General, Daniel Cameron, conducted exactly the kind of thorough, impartial investigation that justice demands. Yesterday, that chapter concluded, and the grand jury conducted the handoff to criminal prosecution. I have full confidence in the Attorney General's painstaking pursuit of facts and justice."Many Kentuckians have channeled their continuing grief and anger into a peaceful exercise of their First Amendment rights. But in Louisville last night, we saw more of the lawlessness, riots, and violence that has plagued American cities too often this year."Citizens' businesses were vandalized. Fires were set in streets."And two officers of the Metro Police Department were shot and wounded while protecting public safety downtown."As of last night, one officer was still undergoing surgery, but both were in stable condition. We are praying that both will make full recoveries. And one suspect is in custody."Peaceful protests honor the memory of Breonna Taylor. Peaceful protests move us toward justice."Smashing windows does not. Setting fires does not. Rioting in the streets does not."And trying to gun down law enforcement officers who are bravely serving their community is the kind of despicable cowardice that must be met with the full force of the law."I want to sincerely thank all the Kentucky peace officers who continue to put their lives on the line every day."I hope and expect that our Governor and Mayor will take every necessary step to secure the justice, peace, law, and order that every Kentuckian deserves."This story was originally published by staff at WLEX. 2394

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has sued former national security adviser John Bolton to block the publication of a book that the White House says contains classified information. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, follows warnings from President Donald Trump that Bolton could face a “criminal problem” if he doesn’t halt plans to publish the book. The administration has also said the former adviser did not complete a pre-publication review to ensure that the manuscript did not contain classified material. The suit asks a judge to direct Bolton to notify his publisher that he was not authorized to release “The Room Where It Happened,” to further delay the release date of the book, and to instruct the publisher to take any and all steps to retrieve and dispose of any copies of the book that may be in the possession of any third party. The complaint also asks a judge to order that “all monies, gains, profits, royalties and other advantages” that Bolton and his agents receive from the book be placed in a “constructive trust for the benefit of the United States.Bolton’s attorney, Chuck Cooper, has said Bolton worked for months with classification specialists to avoid releasing classified material.Cooper has accused the White House of using national security information as a pretext to censor Bolton. As of Tuesday, Amazon listed the book as being released next week, on June 23. 1449

We know virtual learning is mentally hard on kids, but what about physically? If your child is having persistent neck or back pain, it might be related to poor posture and poor body positioning. At some point during the pandemic, most children across the country were doing some sort of computer-assisted learning. At Children's Hospital of Orange County in Southern California, pediatric physical therapist Ruchi Bagrodia covers posture and seating with kids who are of age. There are many things they should be doing.“I always encourage them, a child, to sit at a dining or office table, a chair with a seat back. Their back should be supported,” Bagrodia said. There are lots of things they shouldn't do.“Never sitting on the floor, never sitting in bed, never sitting on the couch,” Bagrodia said. “For therapy appointments or learning, it promotes poor posture if you’re in a squishy bean bag chair or couch. You’re never going to sit up well if you’re there for a couple hours. You’ll develop all sorts of kinks and achiness in the neck, the shoulder, the back.”Many Americans are at home, and these days, many are in chairs a lot. If you're using a device, it matters where you put it. “The level of the tablet, the height of it matters,” said Bagrodia. “We want it arm’s-lengths away and the top of the screen should be just below your eye level. If you’re on the floor and your tablet is on your lap, you’re going to be looking down at your lap and that can develop shoulder neck pain, achiness.”When asked about the long-term implications of persistent bad posture, Bagrodia said, “Poor posture is something is that is developed in a 6- or 7-year-old by the time they’re 20, maybe they do have serious back pain or issues.”While you're repositioning your children, doctors say, pay attention to their mental health too.“Across all different mental health issues, we’re seeing a marked increase, everything in kids. We’re not just talking one age range, we’re talking young childhood all the way through late teenagers,” says Dr. Christopher Min, a pediatric psychologist.Dr. Min says kids need the structure, stability and routine that school provides, and that is what's missing for a lot of kids.“Kids' bodies and brains do really well, “ Dr. Min said. “We’re creatures of habit, when they have that regularity, it’s really great for their brains.”Dr. Min says try to provide some sort of routine and make sure you incorporate enough physical activity, such as a daily family walk. And he says there are signs when things are not going well for children.“For kids, a sign of some mental health difficulties is irritability (which) is a symptom of anxiety and depression in kids,” Dr. Min said.He recommends to pay attention to sleeping and eating habits. While you can't do everything, you can definitely make sure children are consistently physically comfortable while learning at home. That doesn't mean you need a fancy or expensive desk.“If the chair is too high and their feet is hanging off, then put a box or laundry basket underneath their feet so they’re supported. If the laptop is really low, then put books or something under the laptop to lift it up, put a cushion if the chair is too big, put a pillow, or roll up a sweatshirt and tuck it under the low back for some support,” says Bagrodia. At the same time, if you are sitting for long periods of time, check your positioning as well, since it appears the work from home life won't be sitting anytime soon. 3488

WEST ALLIS -- Huey Lewis & The News has canceled all future shows as the band's lead singer and namesake deals with the sudden loss of his hearing."Two and a half months ago, just before a show in Dallas, I lost most my hearing," the singer said in a message to his fans Friday. "Although I can still hear a little, one on one, and on the phone, I can't hear music enough to sing."Lewis went on to explain that doctors believe he has "Meniere's disease," and said he should not perform until he improves."Needless to say, I feel horrible about this, and wish to sincerely apologize to all the fans who've already bought tickets and were planning to come see us," Lewis added. "[I] hope that one day soon I'll be able to perform again."Fans who already purchased tickets via credit card will receive an email with refund details. If you purchased your tickets via cash or check, you'll have to bring your original tickets to the State Fair ticket office for a refund. WEEKI WACHEE, Fla. — Searing pain and immediate swelling were the first signs that 6-year-old Kyden Debyah needed immediate medical attention. While playing in his backyard Monday morning, Kyden said he felt what he thought was a bee sting his right foot near his big toe. Then his mom saw a snake coiled up underneath the tire swing Kyden was about to get on.“I heard him scream 'My leg, my leg,'” Amber Debyah said. Debyah called 911 and grabbed a rake to kill the snake. By the time she came back she said she knew it was bad.“His foot was double the size. It was really hot, red,” Debyah said.First responders told her to try and get the snake so they could identify it and figure out what type of antivenin he needed. First responders brought the dead snake to the emergency room and doctors began administering antivenin for a pygmy rattlesnake bite. In all, Kyden got 18 vials before the swelling subsided and his symptoms started to go away.  The entire time Debyah worried if her son would lose his leg or worse.“I really feel he got lucky after reading other people's stories,” Debyah said. “I feel like if it would have bit him fully with both fangs, it would’ve been a lot worse.”Only one fang injected venom into Kyden’s body. “He was in great spirits the whole time. He was laughing and joking I mean other than the pain in his foot he had no symptoms, no fever, no vomiting. Normal Kyden, except for the pain,” Debyah said.  Kyden might have a low-grade fever, sore joints, rashes, but nothing that will cause permanent damage, Debyah said. Each vial of antivenin costs around ,000. The family has insurance but it does not cover snake bites. The insurance company said their contracted cost for the antivenin will be adjusted but could be anywhere from ,000 to ,000.Kyden is still allowed to play in the backyard, with one new rule, he keeps his boots on at all times.“So grateful", Kyle Debyah, Kyden’s dad said. “You want to try and be strong and focused to better assess everything but I was worried.”The family set up a Gofundme if you would like to help them cover the cost of the antivenin.
