A nonprofit group dedicated to finding missing persons says they've found items that "brought a lot of interest" during their search for missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen.Guillen, a private first class soldier assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, was reported missing on April 22. She was last seen in the parking lot of her Regimental Engineer Squadron Headquarters on Fort Hood at 11:30 a.m.The Army is currently investigating whether Guillen was sexually harassed prior to her disappearance. On Tuesday, Guillen's family met with officials from Fort Hood and the Texas Criminal Investigation Command (CID) who said that they suspect foul play in her disappearance.A number of organizations have joined efforts to find Guillen, including Texas EquuSearch — a local nonprofit dedicated to finding missing persons.Tim Miller says this is the fifth time he and Texas Equusearch have traveled to search the area for Guillen."Areas that we've searched, we've cleared," said Miller. "If she would have been there, we would have found her."The search-and-rescue team has searched several areas in and around a 25 mile stretch between Fort Hood and the Leon River, looking for anything that could lead to Guillen."I'm not going to say we found evidence in the Leon River. I'm not going to say that. I am going to say we found some things that are being tested," Miller said. "So whether they have anything to do with the case, I don't know. There's certainly some things that brought a lot of interest."Wednesday's search brought them to an undisclosed location in Bell County."I can't say why we're here," Miller said. "We have a reason to be here. So we want to get these fliers out and maybe jog somebody's memory. Maybe that right call will come in. This is an area that's got to be saturated. Again, I'm hoping the right person sees the flier and says, 'I need to make a phone call.'"Miller confirmed that while investigators have an idea of where Vanessa's phone went dead, the phone has not been located.There is a ,000 reward combined between CID and League of United Latin American Citizens for information leading to Guillen's whereabouts. A North Texas woman took her battle against breast cancer public, allowing the world a front row seat in the operating room while doctors perform her lumpectomy.Before heading to the hospital today, DeSoto resident Sonia Johnson spent a lot of quiet time with her family. But this morning the 50-year-old will be seen by the world as she undergoes breast cancer surgery live on Facebook.It was last December when, during a routine visit to the doctor, Johnson found out she had a tumor on her breast. It was in that moment that she became determined to use faith and positivity to beat a disease that affects one in eight women.“It’s an emotional journey, but you can’t sit,” she said. “You’ve got to be mentally ready to walk this journey. It’s a fight, it’s a fight all the way.”Johnson found she’s not alone in her fight and has gotten scores of supportive messages from breast cancer survivors — forming a sort of sisterhood. She says sharing her journey on Facebook is one way she can help others fighting the same battle.Breast surgical oncologist Allison DiPasquale, MD, will be performing the surgery. She spoke about her admiration for Johnson when talking with CBS 11 News. “This patient is courageous, she’s amazing. She’s putting her body out there for people to say, ‘Wow, I’m going to go get my mammogram and I’m going to make sure I don’t have cancer.’”Johnson said she hopes that by sharing her experience online others will get a better understanding about one of the breast cancer treatments available.“Other people paid it forward before me and now I’m pushing it and paying it forward for somebody else,” she said.During Johnson’s procedure, doctors will go through her armpit to remove her lymph nodes and cancer through the same incision and when the surgical gloves and gowns are gone Johnson plans to join that sisterhood of breast cancer survivors.“I will be able to say ‘I had cancer’. Right now I say I have cancer. A mural of George Floyd in Salt Lake City, Utah, had black tar thrown on it over the weekend. This is the second time the mural has been defaced, a week after the first vandalism. Police confirmed they are investigating the vandalism and whether it constitutes a hate crime under Utah's new law. As of Monday afternoon, the mural was restored by local artists. The pop art-style mural of Floyd's face was painted by anonymous artists, and has become a makeshift memorial alongside images of others who have been killed by police. Floyd was killed by police in Minneapolis last month after an officer held him down with a knee on Floyd's neck for more than 8 minutes. Floyd is Black, the officer involved is white. A night of teenage fun turned into tragedy on a rural road in Indiana.Four teens, who were attending a slumber party, were killed and four others were injured when an SUV plowed into them while they were pushing a woman's stalled car.It happened Saturday night when a Chevy Suburban driven by Cara Selby broke down just a block away from her home in Cortland, Indiana, officials said.Selby was throwing a slumber party for her daughter. When the teens at the sleepover came out to help push Selby's car back home, another vehicle hit them from behind, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department said.Killed were: Nevaeh Law, 14; Jenna A.
