SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) - A San Diego Police motorcycle officer suffered leg injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the South Bay Friday.The collision was reported just before 10 a.m. on westbound SR-905 at I-805. The officer was conducting a vehicle stop of a red SUV when a white pickup collided with the officer's motorcycle. The motorcycle then collided with the SUV, knocking the officer 70 feet down an embankment.The officer was able to call in the collision on their own. The officer was transported to UCSD Medical Center with leg injuries of unknown severity.10NEWS LIVE TRAFFIC CONDITIONSThe driver of the truck remained at the scene. SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Schools in the Grossmont Union High School District reopened for in-person learning Tuesday, allowing students back on campuses for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March.A large number of students began in-class instruction on Tuesday, but there were many others who chose to remain at home for distance learning.ABC 10News was at Santana High School in Santee on Tuesday morning as students with masks on trickled onto campus. Each student underwent a health screening before heading into their classrooms.Under the district’s blended learning plan, reopening campuses to a limited number of students is step 2 out of 5. Each school will only have 25 percent of students on their campuses. Each group will attend in-person learning once a week; the rest of the time they’ll be learning from home. Class sizes will be made up of 8 to 12 students.GUHSD Superintendent Theresa Kemper said it took a lot of organization and brainstorming to make the plan work, making sure they followed the state COVID-19 guidelines while juggling the daily campus routines.Kemper “At the secondary level, you have students traveling to multiple classrooms, and so it took a lot of work in how to break them up in groups so we can have the hybrid model."As for the full-time distance learners, Kemper said they will continue on with their schedule as planned until they can fully reopen their schools.Kemper also added that the district will see how things will go in terms of in-person learning and they’ll continue monitoring the state COVID-19 numbers as they figure out the next step in their reopening plans. 1917

(KGTV) -- Dozens of migrants seeking asylum in the United States are being processed Tuesday afternoon, according to an attorney.Eight migrants were allowed in for processing Monday night followed by dozens more Tuesday afternoon and evening. The rest of the migrant caravan is waiting in Tijuana to be allowed in and processed. The attorney, who is working with the group of migrants, said members of the caravan were asked to choose among themselves who would be processed.MAP: Where is the migrant caravan from?Women and children were reportedly in the first groups of migrants selected Monday and Tuesday. An official with U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that, although this group of migrants has been gaining national attention, the process the group is going through is standard.As far as the process the migrants are going through, CBP said that individuals who don’t have proper travel documents and try to enter into the U.S. may be subject to expedited removal.PHOTOS: Migrant caravan makes way to U.S-Mexico borderThose in expedited removal who express fear of return are then referred to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.Migrants then go through a “fear interview” to determine whether or not they have a credible fear of persecution or torture.The San Ysidro border inspection facility can hold 300 people. At times, this has required us to limit the number of people we can bring in the port facility for processing at a given time, including in 2016 when an influx of Haitians arrived at the California border, and as recently as within the past six months. In recent days, San Ysidro has exceeded port capacity due to an increase in arrivals of undocumented persons making asylum claims or presenting complex cases. Accordingly, CBP has had to limit the number of new arrivals for processing. CBP will continue to work with its interagency partners at ICE to ensure continued management of persons presenting without documents and appropriate care and custody of all those in our facility,” the spokesperson said in part.Migrants with the caravan have made their trip to the U.S.-Mexico border from three different countries in Central America. SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. – A section of the Three Mile Bridge in Pensacola is missing after Hurricane Sally battered the Gulf Coast Wednesday morning.The structure, also known as the Pensacola Bay Bridge, runs between Pensacola and Gulf Breeze, Florida.WEAR reports that state Sen.
