According to KGW-TV, Trump supporters initially gathered at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City for the "Oregon for Trump Labor Day Cruise Rally." Supporters of the President adorned their cars with campaign flags and made the short drive to Salem, Oregon. The Associated Press also noted that some participants displayed signs in support of the QAnon conspiracy theory.The vehicle parade made about an hour-long trip from Oregon City to Salem. The AP reports that most vehicles split from the group before arriving in Salem.In Salem, KGW reports that the group of about 150 was met by a group of about 50 Black Lives Matter protesters. At one point, the AP says the right-wing crowd "rushed" the Black Lives Matter protesters and fired paint pellets at them. The BLM protesters dispersed from the scene before police arrived to break up the rally.ABC News reports that among those Trump supporters who traveled to Salem were members of the Proud Boys, a right-wing group known for political violence.Monday's rally bore similarities to an Aug. 29 pro-Trump vehicle rally in Portland. During that rally, Trump supporters were seen on video spraying paint pellets and tear gas at peaceful protesters. Later, one Trump supporter, Aaron "Jay" Danielson, was shot dead by a left-wing counter-protester. The suspect in that shooting, Michael Forest Reinoehl, was shot and killed in Washington state Friday as U.S. Marshals attempted to take him into custody. 1738

A Houston police officer was killed Tuesday and a second officer was injured on Tuesday morning in what Police Chief Ralph Acevedo called a "domestic violence-type situation."The officer killed was Officer Harold Preston, 65, a 41-year-old police veteran. Acevedo described Preston as a great cop "and a better person."According to Acevedo, officers were called to a home in the city's southwest side of the city by a woman who described herself as the estranged wife of the man who lived there. She said she was moving out and needed to collect her belongings, but her husband wouldn't let her in the house.When police approached the door, the suspect allegedly fired at the officers. Preston was shot multiple times in the head. A second officer, Officer Cortney Waller, was shot in the shoulder and is expected to survive.Several hours after police first arrived, the suspect emerged from the house and exchanged gunfire with police. The suspect, idnetified as Elmer Manzano, 51, was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. Acevedo said Manzano will likely be charged with murder.Manzano's son was also injured in the incident and was transported to a local children's hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.KTRK-TV in Houston reports that Tuesday's shooting comes days after a Houston Fire Department Arson Investigator was shot and killed while doing surveillance in the northwest side of the city. 1432

A farm in Indiana is recalling more than 200 million eggs sold in nine states over salmonella fears.Rose Acre Farms voluntarily recalled 206,749,248 eggs due to potential contamination with Salmonella Braenderup, the Food and Drug Administration said in a statement.At least 22 illnesses have been reported so far, the FDA said Friday.The eggs were sold through retail stores and restaurants. They reached consumers in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia."Consumers with these eggs shouldn't eat them," FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb tweeted. "Throw them away or return them to place of purchase for credit or refund."Brands affected include Country Daybreak, Coburn Farms, Crystal Farms, Sunshine Farms and Glenview, with some eggs sold at Walmart and Food Lion stores.Salmonella causes serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. A cold front dropping down from Canada will be giving hundreds of thousands of people weather whiplash this week, with 30-to-50 degree 24-hour drops forecasted between Monday and Tuesday for sections of the Rocky Mountain west and western plains.Excessive heat warnings are in effect from southern Oregon to southern Arizona on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
