Once you plug in your location, the new option will pop up on the bottom far left of your screen.A quick trial test of Express Pool found the service to be a dollar cheaper than Uber Pool. However, you'll have to walk a block or two to be picked up by your driver.The logic behind the new service is to help Uber drivers be able to drive in a straight line to pick up pool passengers. That way, there are no out-of-the-way stops.However, it could mean for a slower pickup time. Also, with any Pool ride from Uber, you will most likely share the ride with other riders.Despite walking out of the way and waiting a bit longer, a test of Express Pool still got riders to their destinations on time.  894

This weekend, most Americans will set their clocks back one hour Saturday night as everyone reverts back to standard time.Every state except Hawaii and Arizona observe Daylight Saving Time in the summer months.The idea of Daylight Saving Time has been around for more than a century for a variety of reasons, including more evening daylight and saving energy.Germany was the first country to experiment with it, and it wasn't fully adopted in the United States until 1918 when "An Act to save daylight and to provide standard time, for the United States" was passed.Once this law was passed, it established the time zones we use today — Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific — and specified when Daylight Saving Time would begin and end.Two years later, however, the Daylight Saving Time option was repealed and left up to localities to decide whether or not they'd change their clocks.Nationwide Daylight Saving Time returned for almost three years during World War II when President Franklin Roosevelt instituted "War Time," or year-round Daylight Saving Time.It wasn't until 1966 when President Lyndon Johnson signed the Uniform Time Act, which ended a lot of confusion by setting standards for when Daylight Saving Time would begin and end. There's a new push to acknowledge the greater impact of racism on health.Three Democratic lawmakers created the Anti-Racism and Public Health Act, which would create two new programs within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).One is a National Center for Anti-Racism to research health disparities and develop policies to close the divide. The other is a new program within the CDC’s Center for Injury Prevention and Control that would be focused on preventing law enforcement violence.The bill also calls on the federal government to declare racism a public health crisis. Meanwhile, many state and local governments have already done that.The American Public Health Association says federal action would identify racism as an issue of national importance.“I think the goal is to get us to take our heads of the sand and not be afraid to call racism for what it is,” said Dr. Georges Benjamin, Executive Director at the American Public Health Association.Benjamin says the pandemic has shown the extent of racism as a health issue, pointing to matters that prevent people of color from getting tested and the apprehension Black men face when it comes to putting on a mask, because it can be seen as threatening.He says the stress can raise blood pressure and cause health issues.“If you actually go in and understand their life experiences, they have higher degrees of stress,” said Benjamin. “Stress, it changes a whole range of bodily hormones that have negative impacts on the body.”The American Public Health Association declared systemic racism a public health crisis in June, shortly after George Floyd’s death.A U.S. Senate version of the bill has been referred to committee. 1708

They say all’s fair in love and war.And at least one Provo, Utah man took the epithet seriously when he seized an opportune moment to propose to his girlfriend a day before Valentine’s Day — from the back of a cop car.Provo police officer Courtney Manwaring pulled a man and woman over during a routine traffic stop Tuesday but soon discovered a warrant for the man’s arrest, according to a Facebook post from the Provo Police Department. Manwaring handcuffed the man, then cited his female companion for drug offenses.The man then asked Manwaring if he could speak to his girlfriend from the back of the officer’s patrol car. When Manwaring agreed, the man professed his love for his companion and asked her to marry him.“They both cried, and she said yes,” the Provo Police Department confirmed in their post.As of Thursday morning, the post had been liked nearly 500 times and shared 30.Police have not identified the couple involved in the arrest because they “want them to move past yesterday’s arrest and have long and happy lives.”The police department praised Manwaring for working through an enforcement issue while still treating people with dignity.The department even waxed poetic, citing a line from the famous opera, "Carmen."“Love is a gypsy’s child who knows no law.” 1296
