Harvey Weinstein is facing new allegations of sex trafficking and rape.A German actress, using the pseudonym Emma Loman, filed a federal lawsuit in Los Angeles on Monday, alleging that Weinstein raped her during the Cannes Film Festival in 2006. She is suing Weinstein for violation of human trafficking laws, assault, battery and false imprisonment, according to court documents obtained by CNN."Our client brings her claims in an effort to achieve justice for herself, and she hopes that by doing so she can help open the door to justice for the women in her industry who have undergone similar experiences," John G. Balestriere, the attorney handling Loman's claim, said in a statement to CNN. "Mr. Weinstein must answer these allegations and be held accountable for any damage he has caused our client."Phyllis Kupferstein, an attorney representing Weinstein, told CNN in a statement, "This lawsuit is an attempt to continue the legal barrage and public attention on Mr. Weinstein. The allegations are untrue and the claims are barred by the statute of limitations. We intend to immediately move to dismiss the complaint."According to the suit, Loman said she met with Weinstein at his hotel suite in Cannes, France to discuss starring in an upcoming film project he was producing, but he soon started making sexual advances towards her."Upon arriving at Weinstein's suite, however, Weinstein quickly dropped his professional demeanor," the suit states. "He instead overpowered Loman and raped her. Shocked and betrayed, Loman did not know what to do. HONOLULU (AP) — The small, tight-knit community of about 72,000 people on Hawaii's rural island of Kauai spent the first seven months of the pandemic mostly sheltered from the viral storm. Then in October, statewide travel restrictions eased and the virus came pouring in. The island had only 61 known cases of coronavirus from March through September but went from no active cases in October to at least 84 new infections in just seven weeks. Health officials traced most cases to returning residents and tourists. Hawaii continues to enjoy relatively low hospitalization and death rates. But Kauai last month had its first COVID-19 death and island officials now want mandatory secondary testing for returning residents and tourists. 743

Greg Eubanks disappeared over the weekend, leaving his family frantic. Two days later, he was at home, safe.The 41-year-old had crashed his SUV around 3 a.m. Saturday in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The SUV went down an embankment and got stuck between the highway entrance and exit ramps, so his car wasn't visible from the road.Eubanks was hurt when he was thrown from the SUV. He was left laying at the bottom of the ravine with broken bones and a dead cell phone for two days and three nights. "He said he didn't think he was gonna make it," Tre Drew, Eubanks' cousin, said. "He heard several fire trucks passing, ambulance passing. He kept saying 'I know they're coming for me' and no one came for him."Eubanks' son, Greg Eubanks Jr., reported him missing Saturday, then drove around searching for his dad. "I was worried. I couldn't sleep. (I) rode around all day yesterday trying to find his car, just looking for any type of piece of evidence," the younger Eubanks said.A highway crew finally spotted Eubanks and his car while repairing a damaged guardrail on the Indian Head Highway. "He said it was the worst thing he's ever been through, and he has been through a lot," Drew said.Eubanks was taken to the hospital for treatment. His family says he is in good spirits and is expected to make a full recovery. And since there are 29 days between moons and most months have 30 or 31 days, having two full moons in a month doesn’t happen often.The next blue moon isn’t expected until Aug 31, 2023, according to MoonGiant.com.Don’t expect a giant blue orb in the sky though. These moons look the same as any other.Before the blue moon on Halloween, another full moon will appeared in the sky on Oct. 1. The first was called the harvest moon and the second will be referred to as the hunter’s moon, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.The Farmer’s Almanac says a full moon on Halloween is also rare and only happens every 18 to 19 years. 1010

Georgia’s governor has withdrawn a request for an emergency order to block the state’s largest city from ordering people to wear masks in public or imposing other restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic while a lawsuit on the matters is pending. A spokesman for Gov. Brian Kemp announced late Monday that the Republican wanted “to continue productive, good faith negotiations” with Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and the City Council. The Republican governor argues local leaders cannot impose measures that are more or less restrictive than those in his executive orders.
