On World Autism Awareness Day, Monday, April 2, Pennsylvania theme park Sesame Place announced that it was the first theme park in the world to complete training to become a Certified Autism Center (CAC). The park's certification was granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). IBCCES says that Sesame Place is "the first theme park in the world to receive such a distinction."Sesame Place is located at 100 Sesame Road in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. The park features rides, shows, parades, and full size characters and opens for the season on April 28 at 10:00 a.m.The Sesame team members were trained in sensory awareness, motor skills, autism overview, program development, social skills, communication, environment, and emotional awareness, so that staff members can cater to all guests who visit the park.One of the most helpful outcomes of this certification is the IBCCES?Sensory Guide, which breaks down each of the rides' stimuli. This guide grades the rides in terms of touch, taste, sound, smell, and sight stimulation. The senses are scored from 1, which is a low stimulation, to 10, which is a high stimulation.The park has quiet rooms for guests needing to recover from sensory stimulation from the rides. They also have noise-canceling headphones, or WhispEars, on a first come, first served basis for guests with hearing sensitivity. The park has special areas people can go to and still enjoy parades, without being overwhelmed with direct character interaction. Guests can also take pictures with Julia, a Sesame Street character with autism. Additional resources include Autism Travel, which can help parents explore travel options, and a workshop called See Amazing in All Children, which offers tips to simplify daily life and grow support in the community.Sesame Place has many more options to accommodate with guests needs. (KGTV) - The Rugby team at MiraCosta College has qualified for the National Championships in Pittsburgh.The Spartans Rugby program is in its first full competitive season, and due to the lack of Junior College teams in Southern California, they play a schedule that consists of NCAA 4-year schools.The MiraCosta Rugby team is made up of around 40 players, many of whom have backgrounds in football and wrestling.The team doesn't lack for experience, as a few players have been playing for over 10 years, like Ian Crilly, who says he's pleased with the team's progression."I've been playing for about 12 years now, so it was a little rough with these first year players. Trying to get them up to speed but we got there," said Crilly.The Spartans begin play in the National Championships on April 21, and win or lose, they feel all there success this season has put the school on the map for athletics. Universal spokesman Tom Schroder said in an email Monday that the Florida theme park resort was reducing its workforce "to reflect current priorities and needs." Universal has put the construction of a new theme park, Epic Universe, on pause because of the pandemic. Universal Orlando closed its doors in March as the novel coronavirus started spreading in the U.S. It was the first of Orlando's major theme park operators to reopen when it welcomed back visitors in early June. Not only do Florida investigators say Daniel Santos was ripping hundreds of people off, but they say he flaunted it on social media.“He holds stacks of cash, firearms. And he’s not scared to show you the lifestyle that he’s living using other people’s hard earned money,” said Pasco Detective Spencer Hubbell.Hubbell has a whole file cabinet dedicated to catching Santos. He’s been arrested 55 times just in Pasco County, Florida.And he’s says this latest arrest should finally stick.Investigators said Santos was running a fraud operation, using stolen debit and credit cards, and bogus checks to bring in millions of dollars.“It’s feasible he was doing between ,000 to ,000 a day at times,” Hubbell said.Detectives said Santos, a suspected members of the Bloods gang, would raid accounts until the bank realized what was happening.In most cases, those banks would take the loss and the customers didn’t actually lose any money.US Marshall’s arrested Santos in Miami where he was living in a luxury condo.“Mr. Santos has never had a job. He’s never paid taxes. But he’s living the high life on everybody else's dime,” he said.Along with the fraud, investigators said Santos has a violent criminal history including sexual battery on a victim under 16, and trying to run down a police officer during a traffic stop.They said he was always able to bond out and go back to his criminal behavior. “He’s treating it as a game.
