SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Amid high demand for sanitizer, several San Diego distilleries are changing their production process to lend a hand.Distillers like Oceanside's Pacific Coast Spirits, and Cutwater Spirits and Malahat Spirits in Miramar are changing their production output to sanitizer to help address the local shortage."This doesn't impact production too much as it is alcohol based and is similar to running any 'batch' of spirits," says Nicole Hammond, of Pacific Coast Spirits. According to Registrar of Voters Michael Vu, the issue affected fewer than 30 voters at satellite locations throughout the county. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - About 30 employees and friends of Hess Brewery will shave their heads Saturday to help raise money for pediatric cancer research.The event is a fundraiser for St. Baldrick's, a foundation that focuses on finding a cure for cancer.Brewery owner Mike Hess says the fundraiser is deeply personal, as his daughter Keely has been fighting Osteosarcoma since last August."Help me get rid of this mop! This is the longest my hair has been since I was a kid," Hess says in a video posted to YouTube.The event will be from 2-6 pm at the Hess Brewery and tasting room in North Park. The public is invited, and people can even decide to shave their own heads if they feel so inspired."It breaks my heart," says Beer-Tender Cassia O'Laughlin. "We need money to research so that kids don't have to go through cancer."Childhood cancer affects 300,000 kids per year, according to St. Baldrick's.
