OCEANSIDE, Calif., (KGTV) -- The coronavirus outbreak has forced health officials to ban large gatherings, including farmers markets. Because of that, some local farmers are not able to sell their produce. But some farmers are determined to make sure their customers continue to get fresh produce, even if it's not readily available.Having fresh produce lately seems like a luxury. With panicked consumers in apocalypse mode, grocery shelves are looking dismal. Some won't even leave their homes. With farmers markets now shut down, local small farmers don't have a place to sell. Since 1929, Oceanside's Yasukochi Family Farms has survived many droughts, recessions, and even WWII Japanese Internment. Now, third-generation owner Yasukochi is determined to get through the coronavirus outbreak. "It is real. It's very difficult," Yasukochi said. Most of the items in the box were picked and packed the morning of delivery."I don't think you can get any fresher produce than this," Yasukochi said proudly.Before the coronavirus, Yasukochi farms went from delivering about 250 CSA boxes a week, only to North County customers. Since they started accepting orders to the entire San Diego County last weekend, they now have to cap the number of requests to 500 per day. Nurses at an assisted living facility in Glendale, Arizona are facing backlash for filming and making fun of elderly patients. The video ended up posted to the social media site 'Snapchat'. The incident occurred at the Glencroft Senior Living facility.  An administrator from Glencroft told Phoenix-based KNXV that the facility cannot discuss personnel issues, but did learn about the video Monday morning and is taking the situation seriously. The video shows an elderly woman using a walker as she advances toward the camera. She is obviously agitated, telling the workers she "almost fell" and is seen asking for her pills. Instead of helping the woman, the nurses continue filming as they watch the woman and mock her.The video came to light after a whistleblower saw it on social media and alerted KNXV, as well as Glencroft, and the Arizona state agency that licenses nurses.She is also a nurse and said she knows the woman who made the video from nursing school. "It just disgusted me that you would treat someone like this," said the whistleblower, who asked to remain anonymous. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — An Oceanside officer was taken to the hospital Tuesday after a man broke a patrol vehicle's windshield, sending glass into the officer's eyes.OPD said a man known to police as a transient got into a confrontation with an officer at College Ave. and North River Rd. at about 5 p.m. The man reportedly used an object to break the windshield of the officer's vehicle, injuring the officer's eyes with glass.The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and will reportedly be okay, according to OPD.The San Diego Sheriff's Department, Carlsbad Police, and an ASTREA helicopter helped in the search for the suspect. SDSO said just before 7 p.m. that the suspect was in custody.According to City News Service, the suspect was armed with a machete. The suspect reportedly stabbed a police dog during his arrest. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A fire that broke out Friday afternoon in Oceanside burned one victim, fire officials said.The flames were reported about 3 p.m. in the 600 block of Sleeping Indian Road. Oceanside Fire reported the "main fire has been knocked down" by 4:15 p.m., however crews expected to be on scene for several more hours.One person was burned and is being taken to the hospital, according to Oceanside Fire.Officials said the fire started in an area of RVs and spread to mulch. A neighbor told 10News the mobile homes belong to people who work in the area. Hazmat crews were called in after firefighters learned of previous drug activity on the property. There was also a concern about fuel and propane on site. However, Hazmat crews did not find any hazardous materials present. Five brush rigs and four engines were sent to the scene, fire officials said.
