EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A news helicopter had what County of San Diego officials called a “troubled” landing in El Cajon Tuesday. The incident with the Bell 206B helicopter was reported about 2:15 p.m. in the parking area of Gillespie Field at 681 Kenney St., Santee Fire reported. Video recorded by the news helicopter appears that it was a normal landing in which the helicopter skids land on a movable platform called a dolly. The dolly can then be pulled into a hangar. It seems from the last seconds of the video clip that one of the helicopter skids may have missed the platform and the chopper then tipped over.When emergency crews arrived, the helicopter was on its side.The pilot was not hurt but the passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, officials said. Hazardous Materials teams were notified of a small fire and fuel spill, according to the County."The aircraft rolled over while landing, caught fire and sustained substantial damage. The degree of damage means this will be classified as an accident," said FAA spokesperson Ian McGregor.The FAA and NTSB will investigate the landing.The news helicopter is operated by a third party and shared by five San Diego media outlets, including 10News. 1235

Last Friday, Shannon Torres returned to her home along Murray Drive around noon with her 3-year-old son. "Her heart dropped. She was terrified," said husband Omar Torres.Torres says she found the front unlocked and the French doors leading into the family room open."They had kicked it open and splintered it up near the top," he said.Inside the house, the bedroom drawers were open and Shannon's jewelry boxes were gone and along with them, dozens of pieces of jewelry.Among the missing items: a pearl necklace from her aunt that Shannon wore at her wedding, diamond earrings from her husband for their anniversary, and a silver-and-gold bird necklace. The latter was a Mother's Day present. The couple have three sons, ages eight, six and three."It's very sad. Heartbreaking," said Torres.That feeling was made more intense when they realized what else was in the jewelry boxes: a yellow-and-white flash drive on a key ring and a black SanDisk memory stick. (KGTV) - The man charged with the brutal beating of an El Cajon Police officer inside a KFC appeared at a preliminary hearing in court Wednesday.Officer Jose Sioson was preparing to question Daniel Cook about stealing sodas from a Dollar Tree store when Cook attacked him at the restaurant on Fletcher Parkway, police said.MTS bus driver Iesha Booker witnessed the attack and grabbed the officer’s own radio to call for help when he was knocked unconscious.“I just grabbed his walkie talkie. I didn't know how to work it, I just grabbed it and just kept screaming in there they have an officer down, they have an officer down,” Booker said.Officer Sioson was taken to the hospital and released after several surgeries. Walker said he offered to pay for Jester, who was brought in through a Ben Roethlisberger?Foundation grant.
