A new boarding process is coming to Delta Air Lines.Beginning on January 23, 2019, the airline will ditch zone boarding in favor of a new — and more complex — process based on ticket type and color.Despite the expansion in number of groups from six to eight, Delta said the new format hopes to "encourage fewer customers to line up in the gate area" and ultimately speed up boarding.The Atlanta-based carrier will still begin boarding with passengers that need extra time, followed by premium passengers sitting in its Delta One suites (applicable on select domestic and all international flights) and then its new Premium Select cabin on some international flights or First Class on domestic flights.After that, it gets complicated: The airline used to board the Sky Priority zone — passengers sitting in Comfort+ and Gold and Platinum Medallion members — together.Moving forward, that group will split into two, with Comfort+ passengers boarding first followed by Sky Priority, meaning high-spending members of its frequent flier program will have to wait a little bit longer.Following that, Delta will board economy passengers by announcing Main Cabin 1 though 3, instead of Zone 1 though 4.Fliers that purchase Delta's cheapest tickets will board last in a new group: Zone 4 will now be called Basic Economy. A Michigan couple faced discrimination due to their sexual orientation, but because of the state's laws, it’s legal. They’re sharing their story because of a new national campaign called Beyond I Do.The campaign highlights states that are legally allowed to discriminate due to sexual orientation, for things like employment, housing and social services, doctors visits or dining at a restaurant.Jami and Krista Contreras are a couple from Oak Park, Michigan. Three years ago, they became new parents and brought their six-day-old newborn to a local pediatrician, but they were denied care. "Your doctor prayed on it and decided she won't see you all today,” Krista Contreras claims one employee at the doctor's office said.The couple was floored. They said they had personally experienced discrimination for their sexual orientation, but they never though it would directly carry over to their newborn in this way.“We spoke to other people and they would say well they can’t do that… that’s not legal and we looked into it and it was legal,” Jami Contreras said.According to the Beyond I Do campaign, 31 states including Michigan don’t have protections for this kind of discrimination. “It was horrifying and humiliating and we just kept thinking god she's 6 days old and she’s already experiencing discrimination,” said Krista.  1358

A total of 30 have become sick, including 10 deaths, in connection with an adenovirus outbreak at a New Jersey health care facility, the state's Department of Health announced Monday.All but one case are children with weakened immune systems and other serious medical issues, many of whom require assistance to breathe and function, at the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Haskell, New Jersey.The confirmed cases became ill between September 26 and November 5, according to the health department. A military helicopter carrying officials surveying earthquake damage crashed Friday night in the southeastern Mexican state of Oaxaca, killing at least 13 people, Mexican officials said.Twelve people died at the site of the crash in Santiago Jamiltepec, while another person died in the hospital, the state attorney general's office said. Three of the dead were children, the office said. Fifteen others were injured.It is unclear how many of the victims were on the helicopter and how many were on the ground.Mexican Interior Minister Alfonso Navarrete Prida and Oaxaca's governor, Alejandro Murat, were flying near the quake's epicenter to evaluate damage when the helicopter crashed. A New Jersey meat processing company has recalled nearly 43,000 pounds of ground beef, including packages sold at Walmart stores around the country, due to possible E. coli contamination.The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Saturday that Lakeside Refrigerated Services, a Swedesboro, New Jersey company, is recalling ground beef packages that were produced on June 1.The affected products were sold under the Thomas Foods International and Marketside Butcher labels and feature the establishment number EST. 46841.The recall notice said items were shipped to retail locations nationwide. Marketside Butcher products are sold at Walmart, according to package labels of the recalled products.The FSIS categorized the situation as a Class I recall, which it defines as "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."The recall notice said the ground beef could be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, which can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps for 2–8 days, with an average of 3-4 days.
