It has become a tradition on the Tuesday before the Masters Tournament at Augusta National in Georgia. During Tuesday practice rounds, golfers go to hole No. 16 and attempt to hit a shot that skips off the water and onto the green -- the type of shot you'd never try during the tournament. On Tuesday, Jon Rahm hit a perfect shot that skipped off the water, stopped on the back of the green, and trickled its way all the way into the hole. It was a shot you would have to see to believe. Rahm's shot was viewed on the Masters Tournament's Twitter account more than 15 million times by Tuesday evening. 609

In the congressional debate over gun control, all eyes are on the Cabinet Room in the White House for a Wednesday afternoon meeting. As House Republicans made clear, any and all gun restrictions were off the table, and senators still grappled with what, if any, path forward they had. It's President Donald Trump who will dictate the next steps in the gun debate.Bottom line: Sweeping gun restrictions -- at this point, any gun restrictions -- are not in the cards in the Republican-led Congress. That much seems clear. But the top aides in both parties continue to acknowledge that the President can scramble the direction of things if the meeting takes some kind of unexpected turn toward, say, the comprehensive background checks measure that's hanging out in the Senate.  787

It is considered one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports, but one California man took the game too far.Daniel Lee Rippy, 29, of Livermore, Calif., was sentenced to one-year in federal prison after pleading guilty to making an interstate threat. Federal law enforcement officials say Rippy threatened members of the Ohio State football team during the 2018 game against Michigan.According to the DOJ, Rippy directed death threats toward Ohio State players and then head coach Urban Meyer through Facebook. Rippy also threatened at shooting at Ohio State University. He was originally arrested in December 2019, and was summoned to appear. When he failed to appear, he was arrested again and US Marshals extradited him to Ohio to face charges.“In the middle of Ohio State’s annual rival game with the University of Michigan and with more than 100,000 fans in the stadium, law enforcement suddenly had a potential threat of a shooting,” said U.S. Attorney David M. DeVillers. “Because of Rippy, law enforcement officials at the stadium were placed on high alert and re-allocated resources to investigate the threat. His words are not without consequence, as illustrated by today’s sentence of imprisonment.” 1219

INDIANAPOLIS — A member of Congress has introduced a bill taking aim at protesters. The "Support Peaceful Protest Act," introduced by Indiana Rep. Jim Banks, would ban protesters convicted on crimes such as violence, looting, or vandalism from federal unemployment assistance. It was introduced on August 28, following several nights of demonstrations in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Protesters would also be held financially liable for the cost of federal policing. In a press release, Banks said:"Antifa thugs are descending on suffering communities, disrupting peaceful protests and leaving violence, looting and vandalism in their wake. They turned Milwaukee, Seattle and Portland into warzones, and now they're moving the chaos to Kenosha, Wisconsin. Who knows which community is next?"The bill is not expected to move in Congress. While the 0 federal boost to unemployment ended in July, some states, including Indiana, have opted in to an extra 0 in federal assistance.
