SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — This year, thousands of families across San Diego County are hoping to make the season bright for their children. And in 2020, there are more ways than ever to help deliver for families.RELATED: Ways to give back this holiday season in San DiegoHere are a few ways you can donate to local toy drives this month:Salvation Army Rescue Christmas: The Salvation Army and Walmart have teamed up to help deliver holiday joy to millions of children in need. Donors can easily head to the Rescue Christmas website below, select a location in their area, and find a gift registry to donate to in their community. Walmart will either ship the items directly to a local Salvation Army, or donors can drop off items at a collection point at participating stores.Link to donateToys for Joy: The Rock Church hosts Toys for Joy, bringing toys to children throughout the San Diego community annually during the holidays. This year, to help keep giving safe for families, the toy drive is asking donors to make monetary contributions online so that organizers can go out and buy toys for donors. Donors can bring a toy to any local San Diego Fire Department station. "My all-time favorite. Because they close down the streets, it's like everybody is dressed up, it's such a good time, everyone is in such a great mood, on the same level of having a good time, it’s fun!” said Kelsey Silver, a San Diego resident. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Padres’ weekend series against the Mariners has been moved from Seattle to San Diego due to poor air quality in the Pacific Northwest.In a statement, the Padres said: “Due to air quality concerns in Seattle and out of an abundance of caution, the scheduled series between the Padres and Mariners from September 18-20 has been moved to Petco Park in San Diego. Friday’s game will begin at 6:40pm, Saturday’s game will begin at 6:10pm and Sunday’s game at 1:10pm. The Mariners will serve as the home team for all three contests.”This week, the poor air quality forced the Mariners to move their home series at T-Mobile Park against the Giants to San Francisco’s home ballpark. 706

  

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Though some movie theaters have reopened, Westfield UTC is continuing the resurgence of drive-in movies this month.The mall will host four film screenings in the mall's parking lot as part of its movie series with the San Diego International Film Festival. Tickets for vehicles range from for general admission to for VIP, which includes "priority seating" and a Westfield UTC gift card.
