Tinder's parent company Match Group is suing competitor Bumble, accusing the female-friendly dating app of patent infringement and stealing trade secrets.The lawsuit, filed Friday in Texas, says Bumble is virtually identical to Tinder, the app that popularized the swipe right to like, swipe left to dislike functionality.Bumble copied the "world-changing, card swipe-based, mutual opt-in premise" of Tinder, the lawsuit says.The complaint also says that Bumble's co-creators are ex-Tinder employees, and the app has rolled out two new features that were "learned of and developed confidentially while at Tinder."Bumble has become a fierce competitor to Tinder since it launched in 2014. Bumble's differentiating factor is that only women can make the first move. But Match confirmed last month it plans to launch that feature in its own app.In the complaint, Match says it "applauds Bumble's efforts at empowering women, both in its app and offline" and "cares deeply both about its women users and about women's issues generally.""This case is simply about forcing Bumble to stop competing with Match and Tinder using Match's own inventions, patented designs, trademarks, and trade secrets," it says.The lawsuit is the first time that Match Group, which also owns dating sites Plenty of Fish and Match.com, has enforced the patents it secured on swiping and double opt-ins for dating matches on Tinder, according to a company spokesperson.Tinder and Bumble have had a complicated history.Bumble was launched by Whitney Wolfe Herd, an early employee at Tinder.Wolfe Herd left Tinder in 2014 after alleging sexual harassment and discrimination. The case was eventually settled. Ex-Tinder employees Chris Gulczynski and Sarah Mick joined Herd to start Bumble more than three years ago. Gulczynski and Mick, who are designers, are at the center of the stolen secret allegations in the suit.The two had knowledge of an "undo" button talked about at Tinder, according to the complaint. That feature was "nearly, if not literally, identical" to Bumble's backtrack feature, the lawsuit says. The backtrack feature allows users to go back in time to "like" someone they may have accidentally passed on.Gulczynski and Mick also helped implement photo messaging at Bumble, something Gulczynski had allegedly mocked up a design for while at Tinder.In a statement, a Match Group spokesperson said the company is "committed to protecting the intellectual property and proprietary data that defines our business,"Bumble did not immediately respond to request for comment. According to the Linkedin accounts for Gulczynski and Mick, both have left Bumble. But the real people in need got next to nothing."The fraudsters out there are relying on your generosity your good wishes, the fact that you can’t say no when somebody says something like veterans or children or breast cancer- they want to tug on those heartstrings," said Yael Fuchs, President of the National Association of State Charity Officials (NASCO). "NASCO was formed so that state charity regulators can talk to each other, so that we can learn from each other, so that we can share tips and make sure that we are coordinating our enforcement efforts.”They often work together to take down the bad guys. And when they're not doing that, they're proactively following fundraising drives. “Do we see exorbitant amounts of money going to professional fundraisers- do we see big upticks in the salaries that the leaders of the charity are making,” Fuchs said.They look for ways in which people are being taken advantage of. So, how do you know who's good and who's not? Enter organizations like Charity Navigator. “We’re a database with all of the registered nonprofits in the United States,” said Michael Thatcher, President, and CEO of Charity Navigator. Thatcher says the company has grown to be the largest independent evaluator of nonprofits in the country. Basically, they give you all the tools you need to make the right decisions when it comes to donations.“Never charge the donor for access to the information and never charge the charities to be evaluated so you eliminate any potential conflict of interest,” Thatcher said If you're looking to give this year, he recommends focusing on how the organization is run, how they're making a difference in the world. Review their financial data, and ask questions - lots of questions. "How have they pivoted around COVID and how have they stayed true to their mission and also stayed in business?" Thatcher added.NASCO recommends you do extensive research. And be specific about the "cause" you want to support. “Where is my money going- how will it be used? What we always want people to remember is you don’t want to give to a buzzword you’re not just giving to a cause you’re giving to a particular charity so you want to be able to trust that charity to understand what their programs are.” The need will be big this year. The used vehicle market is seeing an “unseasonal sharp uptick due to unique market conditions” because of the coronavirus pandemic.This also means those with a used car sitting around could get top dollar for a trade-in or sale.Edmunds, which has been tracking automotive trends since the 60s, says the average used car listing price was 8 more in July than in June. Large trucks had the biggest one-month jump, with listing prices ,301 more in July than in June.Meanwhile, trade-ins are, on average, seeing 16.4 percent more value in July compared to June. And those used vehicles are not sticking around on the lots for long. In June, it was taking an average of 44 days to turn around a used car, and in July, it was down to 38 days. This is the steepest one-month decline in Edmunds history of keeping records."It's a seller's market right now. Although used vehicles continue to offer significant discounts compared to new, used-car shoppers will find themselves in the unusual position where they might not have as much negotiation power because demand is so high and dealers will be less inclined to be flexible," said Ivan Drury, Edmunds' senior manager of insights in a release from the company."If you're in the market for a used car, what you see in terms of pricing is likely what you're going to get, so do your research and be prepared to act quickly if you have your heart set on a vehicle."The reason behind the sharp increase in demand for used vehicles is for a variety of pandemic-related causes, says Drury.Consumers are being more cost-conscious right now as unemployment is high, interest rates and offers from dealers are favorable for car buying, and inventory has been “severely limited on the new side.”Automakers closed their factories for several weeks earlier this year as states issued stay-at-home orders to control the coronavirus pandemic. Many people often experience mild symptoms and never seek out a test. TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) - Two people in a Utah-registered truck crashed into vendors and other vehicles on the Tijuana side of the U.S.-Mexico border at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Monday, Televisa reported. Two people in a black Chevy truck with Utah license plates started a fight with a pedestrian about 3 p.m. at Boulevard Gral Manuel Márquez de León and Paseo de los Héroes, according to Televisa, which cited Tijuana Police Chief Mario Martinez. Minutes after the fight, the suspects drove to the border crossing where they struck more than 15 vehicles waiting to cross into the United States and ran over 15 vendors, the news agency reported. The suspects were a man and woman, possibly American, Televisa report. The two were arrested and taken to the hospital.
